Great APP. Easily readable all colours easily visible great to use all round 5 stars from me as it over checks our old cars speedometer which is 8MPH Low.
Managed to get this to work on the Eurostar - clocked 186mph - then it never worked again. Sits at 0mph indefinitely.
It’s okay, does enough
Basically, this app almost does what I need it to. It monitors current speed using GPS and, if you are accidentally exceeding the speed limit at your current location, the speed limit display turns red. Unfortunately, this is where the app fall short. I am a motorcyclist and I need that excess speed warning to be audible, not visual. The phone is in my pocket with the app working in the background. If I inadvertently miss a speed limit sign I need the app to bleep periodically until I drop my speed to within the limit. Please developer: 1. An audible speed warning. 2. Background operation.
Speedometer is accurate, but what is wholly inaccurate is the speed limit which is why most people get these apps. There is also no ‘over speed’ warning which let’s face it would be useless if the speed limit is inaccurate. I’ve deleted the app
This used to be a fantastic app. However, it now does not work properly at all. Half the time it dosen’t work. You can wait for 5 mins and it still does not respond.
5 star
Please update to be more compatible with IOS 18. Have lost widget.
Actually the appeal to me is that the app is more accurate than a car speedometer. These appear to be deliberately designed to give drivers a margin of around three percent to mitigate the chances of inadvertantly exceeding a speed limit. This policy then means that a conscientious driver apparently staying well within a limit is actually driving at several miles per hour slower than he need. As long as you realise that there is slight processing delay of a second or two you can stay bang on the limit, or at least learn how biassed your in-car speedo is! Treated with caution you also get a some help being alerted to speed limit changes that can be buried in vegetation or otherwise missed. Speedmeter even knows some train line speed limits too!
