Description

Spiked is an anonymous platform designed to shed light on spikings, assault, hate speech and inappropriate behaviour at different venues, such as bars, pubs and clubs, across the UK. People should be able to go out and enjoy themselves without the fear of being assaulted or harassed. We need to come together and take a stand to stamp out this behaviour. By sharing this information we can help other people to understand where the safest places are, and where venues might need to make improvements to the safety of their customers.
Spiked aims to help people anonymously report these crimes and feel like they are actually being heard. These reports will then contribute to a publicly available heatmap, showing reported incidents across the UK. This map will allow users to see real-time data of reports and give them the knowledge on the safest places to go out.
If you want to report an incident you can search for a venue or address on our heatmap. You can then choose to log an incident. The app will then ask you a few basic questions to help us to understand what happened - this will include the time of the event, your age and whether or not you reported it to the police. You can log the event at any time so it does not need to be as soon as it has happened.
We have made reporting incidents anonymous because we understand that you may not always want to share it publicly, or with the police. By logging the event on Spiked other users will be able to see where and when an event took place. They will be able to search for venues and see if there have been any recent incidents. This helps everyone to feel safer when choosing where to go out, and will hold venues accountable if they have a lot of incidents being reported.
The aim of Spiked is to help everyone feel heard and safe. We are here, we are listening, and we believe you.

Great idea and usability!

I love the idea behind the app and the heat map of spikings is super easy to read as well. It’d be great if users could also see a list of incidents for a particular location in more detail. This could help them in making a more informed decision on the establishment they want to go to 💡
