Spirit Notes Reviews

Absolutely love this app!!

This app lets you keep highlights, attached pictures, and notes across translations. Works on my MacBook Pro and iPhone. Syncing is fantastic. Each note is automatically attached to each scripture referenced in it.

What happened to the good ol’ days?

I miss when you could buy an app outright without needing a yearly subscription. As good as the app is, it isn't worth paying for year after year. I will keep looking.

Love it but

Awesome app with everything!!! Although I don’t understand why there has to be a subscription…

Data loss

There is an issue with the sync functionality between devices. I wrote the creator of this product but never heard back. Unfortunately, I also have lost the $50 I spent on this product. I can obtain very similar functionality with Obsidian and a plug-in to look up the verses - all for free. I can sync between all of my devices, not just the iPhone and iPad. Anyhow, be careful with your data in this app until the issue gets resolved.

it’s great, but it’s not completely free

I absolutely loved this app! You can customize your bible colors, and you don’t have to pay for certain versions, along with the beautiful note-taking. My only problem is, im currently a broke student and after a certain amount of notes they say that you’ve reached the maximum and must pay for more notes. I don’t have a big problem with this because it’s how business works, but if you’re looking for a completely free bible annotating app, this might not be for you.

I absolutely love this app! First of all I always hit Record and then choose which translation I want for this sermon or personal note! I have already told several other friends about and they now use it!

Thankful for this App!

There were a few changes that needed to be done and I am stoked that they’ve been fixed!! Since the new update my iPad and iPhone have been syncing flawlessly! Thank you for listening to customers! God is Good!

I want to love it, but…. (EDITED, MUST-HAVE TOOL)

EDIT: I reached out to Leio either as I wrote this review or very shortly after. He worked with me back and forth through a few emails, and ultimately I was given a refund of the Premium cost. Out of the blue today, he reached out to me again to let me know that version 1.7 has been pushed out with the fixes to the problems mentioned below. The app is fixed! I leave the original review below only as a show of the vision that he has. Leio heard a problem, worked hard to fix it, and then followed up. This type of service is truly extraordinary, and I’m overjoyed that I can have the opportunity to love this app as much as I originally wanted to! Thanks Leio for this tool that can save so much time and organization to a lifelong adventure through the Scriptures! I have to rate a 3, and want to explain why. I have been using Spirit for awhile and really do love the auto-verse input and other features. However, the part that I hate, and makes me somewhat regret my buying of premium is the fact that it seems as though every other note made seems to glitch out as I’m writing it causing me to lose half if not all of the notes that had been taking, in turn creating a ton of double work that really is horrible to my schedule. Further, the handoff between my iPad and my iPhone is not complete and there isn’t a way of forcing a backup that I’ve found yet. This causes further delays and the like. Obviously, both of these faults are clearly promised in the app description. It is just sad to see such a great idea being halfway done. I really do want to LOVE this app, but these two things cause so many headaches. This makes this app just an okay tool. It seems to be good to take notes on if you don’t mind losing them, and won’t need them from another device.

Conflicting Feelings

So far out of all the note apps I have tried to use at church this is by far the best. That being said there is still one thing I’m having a hard time with. The time stamps, I absolutely love the feature of being able to record my pastors sermons and having time stamps to go back in a quick pinch but everything is time stamped. I would love to time stamp the major points and have indented sub points under them that aren’t time stamped. I don’t need every point I make in my notes to be time stamped, especially when it was typed not even 10 seconds after the previous one. I don’t like how the format with the time stamp has everything in a single line, because when I go back this makes it harder for me to pick out the key topics discussed for that sermon. Granted I know I can highlight, indent, underline, or bold the keep point but that lack of extra format is a negative for me. I found out that in typing a sermon that’s not recorded I can go back and use bullet points but there are no “sub points” so again it’s hard to distinguish the big sections from their sub points. I am big into organization so this could just be a preference of mine and no one else feels this way but I just wish there was more to formatting recorded notes. I love everything else about the app I just wish there was more choices when how we can format our notes.
