Yes, Stanley Gibbons Ltd is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Not enough reviews to make a reliable assessment. The app needs more user feedback.

I’ve downloaded the app and it asks me to login but gives me no opportunity to create an account! Help!!
Great app.
Unable to open any of my purchased items, crashes app every time. Reinstalled but now the my purchases will not restore. A massive step backwards !
Very disappointing. unable to sample anything. Can just go on line and purchase all this anyway. Not sure Stanley Gibbons have really cottoned on. Prices Still high, Even though not paying for a glossy expensive catalogue.
I bought the British Commonwealth and Empire (the old Part 1) many months ago. This review will concentrate on the app rather than the catalogue contents per se. The downloaded catalogue is a replica of the hard copy. Illustrations are clear and the text is just about legible as presented, but there's a very easy to use zoom function which should satisfy anyone. Navigation is possible using any one of three methods, either by simply moving through the pages, or by moving through the pages on a banner at the bottom of the screen, or by scrolling through a list of individual countries in a further banner below that. The complete catalogue remains a very expensive app, though I understand a very large chunk of the revenue goes to Apple, but it's still cheaper than the hard copy and an iPad is both much lighter and hugely less bulky than the paper catalogue. However, the fact that it is simply a replica of the hard copy with no additional functionality is the major drawback of this app. I use my paper copy to catalogue my collection and I never make a purchase without first consulting it: to do otherwise would likely lead to duplicate purchases. With the app it's simply not possible to record my collection. In short, Stanley Gibbons need to introduce a checklist function to future editions. I won't buy any new editions until this feature is available.
