Starbrew Cafe Reviews

Fun stuff!

A fun but easy to follow plot balanced well with gameplay. Doesn’t have the problem with a lot of merge games of the board getting filled up super fast and also balances energy distribution and leveling up well so you’re not just constantly waiting to play. I like it!

Bugged

MrZobar on

United States

Managed to soft block myself during the tutorial. Made the drink for the cat but I guess I didn’t serve it because the prompt still says “Tap the SERVE button to fill the order.” But the drink is gone and I can’t progress further. Tried deleting the game and reinstalling it but the puzzle is still the same. So it’s either a bug or I just don’t see a button to serve the drink(I’ve clicked everything on the screen).

Not customizable

I was really hoping for a merging game with a beautiful aesthetic with customizable decor. You don’t have the option to choose anything in the shop. It’s all picked out for you.

The art style is so rad

I freaking love how cute everything is, the characters designs are so good and the overall everything is awesome looking. Great gameplay but my only thing is…you run out of energy way too fast and its genuinely frustrating. Right when I get absorbed by the game its like “whoops no more energy :p” like dawg…plz more energy I’m begging

The app won’t open anymore. Keeps getting an error in the middle of loading

Charming

I don’t usually write game reviews, but this one has been such an unexpected joy to play. The writing and story are fun (I saw that Darkwing Duck joke, devs! Yes AND the Evil Dead one 😂), the characters are super cute, and the gameplay is easy but satisfying. The only complaint I have is my energy always runs out too fast and I have to stop playing!

Eh.

Every time you launch this game, you get bombarded by two micro transaction windows. As you play, even more pop up and at times where you might be in the middle of something. Micro transactions mostly offer a randomized chest of energy and/or gems. Yes, there is a base amount of gems and energy offered in each, but gambling an extra amount doesn’t sit right. The highest direct recharge offers less of these “bonus” items. This is all on top of a weak energy system. You expend energy pretty quickly with no real way to gain it back other than sitting around for hours while it builds up again. There is no way to grow how much energy you have in reserves nor no way to make it grow more quickly. You can, three times a day, watch a randomized ad (length varies) for a pittance of energy (a quarter of max). There is a randomized chest available after you watch a 30 second to minute long ad (this is randomized) every day that barely offers any real incentive to get it. Other than this chest, there is no consistent way to get extra gems or energy for a “free” player. (“Free” because watching ads takes an awful lot of your play time.) Opening the game multiple times in a day to *maybe* progress (as gaining coins is randomized) is really draining and leaves you unfulfilled. If you are putting money into the game, it will constantly beg for more to keep you playing. I have seen no point to give anything more than the basic $5 as the value wasn’t there for me. If it was enough energy to keep me moving for a while instead of an extra 5 minutes of play for a game that NEEDS a lot more energy, maybe. The gameplay is pretty basic, and doesn’t invite much of a challenge as it’s just merge items from the same thing over and over. There’s potential for mixing the items together, but the game does not do this. The game also offers a small space, and very small storage only unlockable with gems, for merging the items which you can grow with time, but it takes a long time with the limited energy you have. You can be at it for weeks. I can only recommend this game if you’re bored and need something to fill the time. I do not feel an urge to play this game hardcore and there are better, and worse, games out there. The biggest thing holding this game back is the lack of care for the player’s time, and the heavy attention to the consumer’s wallet.

Engaging Story, Fun Play

Enjoyable gameplay, doesn't get too much too fast. The story is the real star. It's nice to get tidbits of dialog with each upgrade to the cafe.

Glitch? with shells

syzygy21 on

It seems like the statistics with the sand bucket are off, and it makes filling shell orders super painful. I have a level 9 Sea Bucket, and it barely ever drops shells. I keep getting orders for clams (level 6) and it takes me 300+ energy to fill the order. I’ve made so many level 9 sandcastles and crabs trying to fill a single clam order. Can you please fix the statistics on the bucket? I have no way to upgrade it any further, and spending all day filling my grid with sand is no fun. :(

Good game

The update just broke my game. It also I wish there was more to do after you beat it.
