I used Cbum Fitness for about 6 months. I was seeing real progress and enjoyed the apps workout programs. The muscle group targeting was great. Now that the app has changed over. Its absolutely terrible. There is no in between l. Either you are doing a very docile and weak workout or tri-sets. I am not sure the developers realize but we do not have personal gyms and cannot just occupy 3 different machines at once without ruining someone else’s workout.
Don’t like the new design
This app randomly updated. I didn’t even realize it was the old Chris Bumstead app. I hate the new design. It’s way more cluttered then the old one. I bought the annual plan but won’t renew if they don’t fix the UI. The old deign was much more streamlined and easy to use.
Update: I have continued to use this app and I hate the new interface. If they don’t go back to the old interface or fix this new one, I will not renew me subscription.
Bait & Switch to this confusing, poorly designed app
I was a daily user of the CBUM workout app prior to the sudden change to the STNDRD app, which happened with no notice or announcement.
This new app interface is a massive downgrade from its predecessor’s usability; it’s confusing and disorganized and is not at all intuitive. CBUM’s App was a little buggy, but was slick, minimalist, and user friendly. Additionally, my history and progress is wiped, and the workouts I loved have been replaced with workouts that seem clunky and poorly thought-out. Huge disappointment.
I reached out to STNDRD to request a refund (as I recently paid for an annual subscription to the CBUM app, which was ‘transferred’ to this new app), and they informed me that they were unable to do so. This is not the app that I paid for.
Update
The pre-updated CBUM app was so much better than this new STNDRD app. Everything about the old app was better. If something isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Even my workouts have changed. Been doing the push, pull, legs program and there was a lot of variability in the workouts which kept things fresh and exciting. Now for this program it seems like it has me doing the same workouts every time I go for a push or pull. I’m not sure what has happened but genuinely considering canceling my membership.
Needs to go back to simpler time
Pretty incoherent since the update. Almost impossible to navigate and overcomplicates everything. Unsure if I can even do the exercises out of order in case equipment is unavailable. Just very frustrating to use.
Give us the old app back please
Was forced to do this “standard” update and to say the least, it killed all of my excitement to workout. Overly complicated, frustrating to figure out, and not user friendly. I literally can’t even figure out how to close out the workout I started without closing the entire app.
I think I speak for the majority of people when I say that the old app was all we needed—consistent, easy to follow workouts. This is an absolute nightmare and I’m just glad my subscription was close to being up cuz I will not renew it. I’m so disappointed
New upgrade is too complex
The original cbum app was great. The new update is too complex and is not very user friendly. Switching back to the bodybuilding.com app.
Keeps closing mid workout
Keeps closing mid workout and I lose all progress
Updated app
Need to add the split of chest/back shoulders/arms and legs back into it ASAP
Bring back the Old App
This is a hard review for me to write as no one asked for a new app and the team just left us high and dry. Yeah the old one was very minimal and didn’t have all these bells and whistles, but it worked and worked quite effectively. I had over 300+ workouts tracked and logged and everything. Now that is gone. Not only did they destroy a perfectly good app, they increased the price as well. The new app is clunky, hard to do anything because nothing works together. I am a developer myself and this is an atrocious experience for the user. Listen to your fan base and bring back the old app.
