Street Sense

Description

Welcome to Street Sense, an interactive game that teaches some of the skills you need to be a safer driver in real life.
In this game, you'll get to drive around on virtual roads and learn important things like how to spot dangerous situations on the road, how to turn safely, and how to share the road with others.
Street Sense is for new drivers who are just starting out and for experienced drivers who want to get better at driving. You'll experience different driving situations and learn how to deal with them, just like you would in real life.
As you drive around, you'll need to keep an eye out for potential dangers and use special tools in the game to help you if you get stuck. These tools are called "power-ups" and they can help you out when you need it the most.
When you're feeling confident, you can take a test to see how much you've learned in the Street Sense Road Test.
So, are you ready to become a great driver? Let's play Street Sense and learn how to drive safely!

Terrible UX

Terrible user experience. Hard to grasp, no directions on controls, slow, heats up phone aggressively. Of course Canada wasted money on a useless app again

Pfft!!

I was able to start the tutorial and finish. But after that the app crashed. It crashes every time I want to try playing it now.

Terrible design/controls and is unusable on M1 iPad Pro

This is the most worthless app I’ve ever tried for learning/practicing driving. I’m amazed that this app even got on the App Store, it’s that bad. At best, it’s glitchy, and the controls/interface are horribly designed and just plain don’t work - especially for mirror checking. You have to ‘look around’ ~ just so ~ to line up the mirrors with the on-screen selection tool, and clicking/tapping to select them repeatedly does nothing. When it (rarely) does work, it won’t let you exit out of mirror view. There’s a million other things wrong with this app, but basically name any function or control and you can bet that it doesn’t work. Interface is crowded and confusing, and the ‘tutorial’ offers little to no help. **To the developers of this app - go back to the drawing board. It’s a good idea in theory, but the execution needs a total overhaul. Also, maybe try USING the app first before uploading it to the App Store.** As of July 2024, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS APP

Doesn’t teach you to turn signal on

mozartmozart on

No wonder no one uses a signal in Vancouver . The app doesn’t offer to set a blinker signal , instead it will go on automatically when you turn . I’m scratching my head ?! !!!! Teach people how to proper signal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alternative way to play

bobiskool on

Canada

There was a review that said this was unrealistic due to the fact you are able to use more limbs in a real car. This leads me to suggest the following way to play: use your right big toe for the pedals and left foot for shoulder checks. Make sure you are actively looking over your shoulder when you are shoulder checking though. This will allow the user to focus on steering with their hands and provide a more realistic experience.
