I am playing Sudoku of The Day since the old Palm PDA many years ago. It has always been highly challenging, the GUI is intuitive to use, and the new version is even better.

• 6 competitive puzzles each day ranging from Beginner difficulty through to Diabolical
• Unlimited randomly generated puzzles
• Enter your own puzzle to solve in the game
• Manual or automatic pencil marks
• Smart hints - tap to get a hint, tap again for a bigger hint etc. Ideal for improving your Sudoku skills
• Hold & Highlight - tap and hold a specific number or pencilmark on the number bar below the puzzle to see all instances of the number in the grid.
• Puzzles Plus subscription for unlimited puzzles
Puzzles Plus Subscription Terms and Details
Puzzles Plus is our optional subscription for Sudoku Of The Day which entitles you to play all of the available Daily and Anytime puzzles as soon as they are available, without in-game adverts or any requirement to earn tokens. Subscribers can also choose to highlight their high scores with a choice of badges.
Subscriptions are available with renewal periods of either monthly or yearly. The price shown is the cost of the renewal, with the saving value for longer subscription periods as a comparison to the monthly option.
After you confirm a subscription, you will have a free trial period of seven days. Your App Store Account will be charged as soon as the free trial is over. If you cancel the subscription at any time before the free trial is over, you will not be billed.
The subscriptions are automatically renewing, and you will be charged again at the end of your current subscription period. Your subscription will automatically renew unless you turn this off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
The renewal cost will be the same for each subscription period, and will be charged within the 24 hours before the end of your current subscription.
You can manage the subscriptions at any time by going to the Account Settings in the Settings App after purchase. There are options to either change to a different renewal period (which will be at a different price) or to cancel your subscription completely.
If you cancel the renewal you will still have access to the Puzzles Plus features until the full subscription period is complete. If you confirm the purchase of a subscription before the free trial is complete, any unused portion of the free trial will be lost.

Pencil marks hard to read
17.10.2018: Bug: Während eines noch nicht beendeten Spiels versehentlich die Hometaste erwischt. Dann leider kein Resume verfügbar!-/ Das scheint dann zu passieren, wenn bereits neue Spiele verfügbar sind. Und bitte: step-by-step Solutions der Webseite mit den echten Zahlen!! 12.1.2015: hey, ich war noch nicht fertig! Nach 1 Stunde Arbeit an einem diabolischen Spiel Reset auf Hauptmenü beim Aktivieren aus dem Hintergrund. Inklusive Markierungen für eine lange Forced Chain. Mist! 18.12. 2014: Auch nach Umstieg auf iPhone 6 sind die Kandidatenahlen kaum lesbar! Auch ist der Unterschied zwischen vorgegebenen und eingegebenen Ziffern nicht zu erkennen. Beste Algorithmen und Auswahl an Spielvarianten aber zu anstrengend. ---------------- Heute mal wieder gespielt. Riesenbug (oder soll das etwa ein Feature sein?): die Varianten passen nicht zu den offiziellen Sudokus auf der Webseite. D.h., keine Möglichkeit, die step-by-step Solution in schwierigen Situationen zu Rate zu ziehen und zu lernen! Die internen Tips sind ja höchstens einmal zu gebrauchen. ---------- I have been using this app since 2009 and updated to the latest version today. While I like the overall design I simply can't use it anymore. I have extreme difficulties to read the marks because of the dim font used. Apparently there's no way change this font. Furthermore, the solved numbers entered are hard to discriminate against the start numbers. Will go back to the old version and its task switching bug that often discards your current state when switching back under ios7.

Funktioniert einwandfrei, ist sehr übersichtlich auf dem iPad und hat mir schon bei vielen Problemlösungen geholfen. Gut würde ich finden, wenn bei den "hints" auch auf die anzuwendende Strategie hingewiesen würde. Viele deutsche Interessenten wären sicherlich auch für deutsche Texte dankbar.
Could be improved
This Sudoku is not comfortable to play. You must first mark the field and then set the number. I think it would be better if you mark a number first and see where this number is already set and then click in an empty field to set the number. If you found all nine fields with the same number then this number should be marked as complete on the number button.
