Switching from Suggester, feature requests

Overall highly useful app to try harmony ideas! Also great for practicing over chord progressions. First Suggester user since iPhone 4s times. After switching to Suggester 2 on iOS/iPadOS and getting used to it I noticed that the workflow got slower because some operations require more interface operations (more taps etc). However really appreciate the new guitar functionality! Few feature requests (or suggestions, sorry) below. Interface (ease of use): • separate icons (buttons) for the most important functions ('Chord suggestions' - separate icon, etc.) for immediacy • chord suggestions as the home screen for right panel (sometimes after some actions like chord alteration right hand side panel stays blank - I would prefer to be taken to chord suggestions as in first Suggester) • metronome and rhythm related functions under same icon (metronome on/off and tempo/time signature settings are currently under separate interface icons) Interface (functions): • automatic 'bar line' calculation based on selected time signature (thin line) • skip this section setting • 'goto section x' • global base/home octave setting for keyboard instruments Export: • better segmentation of text export, more info • typical tab style chord export for guitar could be very useful Instruments: • synth pad style sound (square/saw/'warm pad') • distorted/overdriven guitar (typical general midi sound is ok) Advanced functions: • multiple (separate) lanes/reels for left panel - so one can place chords and melody on separate lanes, and also explore polyrhythm and polytonality with multiple chord lanes (+ separate lanes/reels foldability/switching function) Thank you!

amazing app i just want an option where you can switch tunings on guitar kinda like how you can pick a scale so that you get different chords and stuff that would be super cool otherwise thanks for the cool app!

Nice upgrade but confusing price structure

I loved Suggester and I can tell V2 offers more. However, I have no idea what I should buy. I have a policy that any subscription based app should include making me coffee in the morning and empty the kitty litter to be worth paying a monthly tax. I don’t have a Mac, just an iPad Pro and an iPhone 15 pro max (or max pro, whatever). What should I buy to get all the features without paying monthly? It looks like that’s an option but I don’t want to buy too much or too little and it’s not clear which is which. That aside, the app is great. I guess I am using the free version? If so, it’s pretty nifty even as it is (for those that can play piano, which I can). The advantage of a chord app like Suggester 2 is mental bandwidth. I can play any progression in any key, yet if I come across something I like, it’s like writing in the sand. The app allows experimentation without fear of losing inspiration. I do t know if S2 allows chord input from an external MIDI keyboard. If it does, then I’ll figure out the pricing and I’ll buy it. But I need to figure out what a “key” is and why each has two prices. Actually, I am thinking of buying a Mac Mini, so maybe I should wait and get the key for both, assuming I got the pricing scheme right.

Losing trust

I downloaded the first version of this app two months ago and paid full price to unlock all the features. It had most features, except for missing a microphone transcribing feature. Two months later they have a new version of the app and even with a discount (for purchasing the first version two months ago) they want me to spend another $20 to unlock it just for my phone, or $40 to unlock it for my phone and computer. That’s a little frustrating, especially considering that the new version still does not have a microphone transcribing feature. So I feel like I wasted $17 on the first version now. I’m worried if I pay the $40 for version 2, there will just be a 3rd version that they want me to buy again. May need to look elsewhere for a more long term solution.

I Appreciate the one time payment

This is a great app for writing music on the go. Highly recommend. The best thing about it is you only have to buy it once, and then you have it forever. I’m getting so sick of everything being a subscription service these days, it’s so refreshing and greatly appreciated to have another option. Thank you for that! Seriously

The GOAT v2.0

The first version of this app was insanely useful and this version has even more functionality. I especially love the new guitar mode since that's how I usually use the app anyway. Now I don't have to spend time looking up the chords on other sites; I can do it all on one app! Mandolin mode soon? That would be awesome.

App continuously crashes

Horgé on

The app is great, it really gives you control to build out cords and export them. However the app continuously crashes and you lose everything you were working on if you’re currently in the process of building a progression.

restricted features

downloaded this app a few months ago and actually enjoyed it, never feeling the need to buy the add-ons and i come back to half of the features i used for free suddenly requiring a subscription to use. i totally understand the business model, but please don’t take features away from users!

Great tool for songwriting

If I want to write a new song, I first need to come up with a good chord progression. So what is an essential tool I reach for? This app.

Nice update but..

Pres Lee on

Very nice little app to play around with when bored, but cost is kind of ridiculous upgrading from the first version for quality of life things that should’ve been upgraded into the first version. Also, find it weird that I had to pay again to use it on ipad and Mac after already buying it.. Mostly just nitpicking on the pricing and cross platform compatability with the packages; I ended up just buying the full version out of boredom, but acknowledge it’s fun to use to get more complicated harmonic structures in your ears. I don’t know who I’d really recommend this app for though.. probably mostly for aspiring musicians/writers who haven’t taken the time to or just don’t want to get into music theory, and want to just plug and play harmonies into their music. I just use it to mess around building harmonic progressions, for ideas to manually add into my music later.
