How good is this!!! Best app I’ve bought in a long time. So much functionality.
As someone who uses both Sundial and Lumy, I can confidently say that Sundial far surpasses Lumy in functionality and customization. While Lumy often gets the spotlight, Sundial is the real workhorse for those who need precision and depth in solar tracking. Why is Sundial the superior choice? • Comprehensive Solar and Twilight Data: Sundial offers detailed and accurate information for sunrise, sunset, and all twilight phases (civil, nautical, and astronomical). Whether you’re into photography, stargazing, or just planning your day with precision, Sundial delivers where Lumy falls short. • Customization for Apple Watch: Sundial really shines when it comes to Apple Watch integration. It provides far more customization options than Lumy, allowing you to tailor complications and widgets to your exact needs. It’s impressive how much functionality is packed into this small but powerful app—there’s a range of options at your fingertips that make Sundial adaptable to any situation. • Designed for Power Users: While Lumy focuses on a sleek interface, Sundial offers the best of both worlds: it looks good but prioritizes functionality. The level of customization and depth of data available sets it apart for those who need more than just basic sunset times. If you’re serious about solar tracking and want a highly customizable experience—especially on the Apple Watch—Sundial is the clear winner. It may not get all the praise, but it absolutely deserves it.
Always know rising and setting times of Sun and Moon for any location. It's also interesting to see the difference between clock midday and true (sundial) midday.
What a nice surprise to have Sundial back on my watch. Before it disappeared it was my favourite app and I was morose about it going but now it’s back and with amazing new widgets. I’m a happy man!
My previous review of this fantastic app has been temporarily removed. I’ll be back after work today to leave another review (100% positive).
This app is pretty good for my astronomical clock needs. But seriously??? Why put the widgets behind a paywall? There are so many more things you could put a paywall behind. And now I have to deal with a lesser clock widget.
I’m getting really tired of downloading “free” apps where even the most very basic of functions demand payment. Even worse this app triggered a subscription without my asking. Want a noon alarm ? That lll be a charge. Of and you just signed up to the trial account without us asking you. And if the developer response tries to contradict this below - then they’re in denial App deleted. More wasted time thanks to deceptive practices - so have a one star review in return REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE DEVELOPER SAYS BELOW ITS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF DEEPLY CONFUSING SUBSCRIPTION TWISTS AND TURNS - IF YOU DONT WANT TO TRICK USERS INTO SLEEP WALKING INTO ENDLESS CHECKS TO SEE THEY HAVENT BEEN STEALTH “DEFAULT SUBSCRIBED” THEN SIMPLY STOP DOING IT - AND HAVE A FREE AND PAID VERSION - SIMPLE IM FED UP WITH THESE ENDLESS SILENT SUBSCRIPTION SIGN UP TACTICS
I have been using this App for over a year on my previous iPad 4 but for some reason when installed on my new iPad 10.2 7th Gen. the App will not open. I have tried uninstalling and reloading to no avail despite selecting for iPads only. I have given this a 3 stars to avoid a misleading low mark because it still works fine on my iPhone 6. Hopefully the next update will remedy the fault.
This is a seriously good app if you’re at all interested in what the sun and moon are up to. The iPhone and iPad versions share variants of a well thought out and cleanly executed design, and each has a host of useful alerts. To exemplify one: an alert that sunset or dusk is only an hour away reminds you to make the most of the remaining daylight...and walk the dog. Good as these versions are, though, the Apple Watch version is where the app truly excels. Newly rewritten in Swift and bursting with features, the Watch app offers a startling number of different, and differently configurable, complications for suitable faces (Infograph is a great one), and has a good selection of customisable widgets only a tap away. Add to all that a responsive developer who diligently hunts out and squishes the odd bug, and it’s a winner.
