The Classic Superimpose

Published by: Pankaj Goswami

Description

Superimpose lets you unleash your creativity with your photo editing skills. Combine multiple photos to create artistic double exposure, surreal or just fun juxtaposed photo.
Superimpose provides a very simple workflow, which almost anyone can follow. Yet, it provides a wide range of tools suitable even for advanced users, to create complex compositions.
Blend/mix/combine/cut/copy and paste one photo on another. Creating double exposure photo is as easy as loading two photos and then choosing opacity and blending modes.
With advanced masking tools, you can manually or semi-automatically erase portions from one image and then blend that with another photo. From magic lasso, that cuts out an image from a roughly painted boundary to a simple brush masking tool, you can use wide range of masking tools to create all sorts of masking, using this app.
The app has tons of masking tools like brush, smart brush, magic wand, magic lasso, lasso, polygon, rectangle, ellipse, linear and radial gradient and color range. Text masking tool and you can even create a mask from an image.
And how do you cut out hair or fur of your pet? You can create fine mask of hair, using hair masking tool even to cut out hair!
To keep the flow simple, Superimpose works with two photos at a time. But you can keep merging and keep adding more and more layers of photos to create complex compositions.
To blend two photos even better, the app supports a set of adjustment tools like exposure, saturation, hue, color balance, curve etc.
Apart from blending, advanced masking and filters, Superimpose comes equipped with assorted set of editing tools like perspective correction, adding text with extensive text settings and tools like motion blur, zoom blur etc.
Creating a natural shadow of objects that you blend with a photo is easier than ever. A dedicated tool just to create a shadow.
Store all your cut outs, stickers or masks in a built-in mask library. For example, you can take photo of your products, mask them and then save them in the mask library. You can later add those cut outs on a background you want to add it to.
Create a fun photo by adding one part of the photo as a foreground and another photo as a background.
Save images in high resolution either in JPEG, PNG or HEIC format.

Superimpose Reviews

Go-to for editing images together

I've been using this for years and years, it's the best. So easy to use. Hopefully it will stay the same forever.

Useless

Useless after the update. The new UI is hard to navigate and makes a simple photo edit impossibly difficult. I want my $2 back!

My version of photoshop

BUNZ REVIEWS on

I’ve been using Superimpose since around 2014, and it’s been my ride or die photo editing application for forever. If you like easy to use and simple photo editing tools similar to photoshop without the learning curve, this app is for you!

No worries mate.

I’ve been using this app for years and suddenly the format and functionality changed. Being a novice in all things technological I was lost. But with the older version I’ve created some amazing projects. I went to the App Store to search reviews for how I could use the new tools and I saw some pretty harsh reviews because of the changes. Like it is the end of the world. With that kind of vitriol it just tells you how much people loved it and how incredible the app really is. Then when I saw the developer’s response, that if you’re not happy with the changes you can simply hit the home button and the original version is still there, I was pleasantly surprised. It is THE BEST APP for creating art and design in my arsenal!

Not happy

I was offered a trial for $1.99 so I did that and then immediately there after my card was charged an additional 6.99 that I did not authorize. I’m trying to cancel but when I hit the contact button in the app, nothing happens and there is no phone number.

Disappointed

I have been a long-time Superimpose user and it has seriously gone downhill from how it was years ago. It used to be fantastic, a flat $2, and Superimpose X as an alternative with more features. Easy to get the hang of and you got a lot of bang for your buck, I didn’t even mind that it didn’t have everything. The complete overhaul of the UI was the beginning of the end, but what I am most disappointed in is the switch to a subscription model to get access to any actually useful features. The auto-mask when importing a new photo was free just a week or two ago, now it’s paywalled. As someone who solely uses this app for masking at this point, I’m not happy with this change. The app was so great in its heyday and now it’s near-unusable, with the intrusive pop-ups asking for more money. I understand that the developers need to keep the lights on, but at this rate I feel they have done nothing but alienate their original userbase.

I can do anything I can imagine with my pictures, anything, in minutes, it really makes me happy, the features are so easy to try, I Am 60 years old, gives me fun, gives me a feeling of accomplishment when my friends see my master pieces, I think superimpose is making a better world.

Update?

What in the world did you just do to this app? The format is completely different. Nothing is the same. As a photographer who uses this app for editing and finally gotten comfortable with it and knows how to work it efficiently I have to completely relearn the whole thing this isn’t atrocity to loyal users. This update is not an upgrade. You just screwed hundreds of thousands of people. Thanks for nothing.
