Description

Surf The Urge is an app that helps you avoid acting on any behavior that you want to reduce or stop. We use the technique developed by Dr. Alan Marlatt to help you avoid or manage unhealthy urges and help avoid addictive behaviors.
With the surf the urge technique, urges are compared to an ocean wave. Just like a wave, urges gradually build intensity, they peak, and then they fade away. Our app guides you through the technique, enabling you to visualize yourself as a surfer riding the wave of an urge.
This can help you stop or reduce unwanted behaviors such as binge eating, drinking, substance abuse, emotional reactions such as “blowing up” when angry, gambling, and the like.
