Description

SWAM Solo Brass has arrived on iOS! The incredibly powerful Physical Modeling technology is now MOBILE. Extreme Expressivity and Realism delivered in a package of only 46 MB
These instruments are NOT sample libraries. Unlike sampling, which uses recordings to replicate the sound of an instrument, physical modeling doesn’t generate a sound as such but creates the conditions for the system to create it according to an external input (like someone playing on a keyboard).
With our SWAM Flugelhorn for iOS, you now have the unique ability to express yourself with all the emotions and subtleties of a natural string instrument sound as played by a real player, in any style — from classical to film scoring and even microtonal music.
SWAM Flugelhorn for iOS can be used as a standalone instrument for playing in real-time, or as a plug-in for mobile music production. Play with your favorite external controller or directly from your iOS device through our intuitive interface, friendly for blind and visually impaired users.
With SWAM Flugelhorn for iOS you can:
- Explore our collection of presets, create your own, or import them from your Desktop
- Play in real-time using the standalone version of the app
- Play with different instrument bodies
- Play in a variety of styles like a real player
Control the instrument’s expressivity in real-time directly through the touch control interface on your iPhone or iPad including the exclusive virtual bowing touch surface!
- Play and control the instrument’s expressivity in real-time using your favorite external controller (ROLI Seaboard, Akai EWI, breath controllers, regular keyboards, and more)
- Use the included AUv3 plugin version to produce music with a mobile setup
- Use the included AUv3 plugin version in combination with Camelot PRO for live performances
- Adjust every aspect of the instrument’s sound (timbre, vibrato, amount of air, etc.) through an easy-to-use control panel
- Micro-tune the instrument through the Pitch Manager (note: MAQAM device is supported with direct integration)
- Add built-in effects such as Reverb, EQ, and Compressor
- Have access to easy MIDI control configurations
The SWAM Flugelhorn for iOS is for you if:
- You’re a wind controller player looking for a mobile setup to perform live without needing a computer while still having an incredible sound.
- You’re a keyboard player and feeling frustrated by the limited expressive capabilities normal sample-based plugins give you.
- You’re a music producer looking for a mobile setup to produce music from anywhere without having to carry around expensive gear.
- You’re looking for a virtual instrument that allows you to express the full range of your musicality easily on your iPhone or iPad.
IMPORTANT: If you choose to play using an external controller, please note that a controller with the ability to continuously control the expression (like an expression pedal, breath controller, MPE device, wind controller, …) is REQUIRED. The same way real players need a bow to express themself on their instrument, SWAM Flugelhorn needs something to control its expressivity. SWAM instruments do not work with just note-on velocity.

Game changing! Thank you AudioModeling!

These instruments are as good as my very best and most expensive sample libraries for the desktop, (and I have the very best there is). Not only that, thanks to AudioModeling’s excellent physical modeling approach and MPE, these instruments are playable like a real instrument. Amazing. After 30 years of dealing with the limitations of sample libraries, for $20 you can buy a VI that rivals the very best that even the bespoke industry has to offer. And, oh boy, are these instruments loads of fun to play. I can’t can’t stop playing the instruments I’ve purchased so far, (Flugelhorn, Cello, Piccolo Trumpet, and others...). The only con, and believe me, this is just a minor gripe because, fortunately I have years of experience mixing non-SITU instruments, but for consistencies sake, I’d like to see AudioModeling add processed convolution based SITU presets, with different rooms, stages, and halls to choose from. That would make these instruments unbeatable. Using convolution as a means to EQ, dampen, and stage is as realistic these days as physical modeling. VSL has proven that with their Synchron Series. Imagine a preset that placed all of the horns in SITU in a jazz hall. Instant big band! Of course technologies like MIR, Virtual Sound Stage and good old fashion mixing skills can accomplish this just fine, but having this ability out of the box would knock these instruments out of the park so far I’d have trouble justifying sample libraries in my template for anything other than “specialty” libraries such as Spitfire’s Swarm series or VSL’s Big Bang series, (which I love too). Some of the controllers in the macOS versions are locked down in the iOS versions, which isn’t necessary, but AudioModeling didn’t lock down anything that’s a deal killer, and the price difference more that makes up for it. I’d like a path to upgrade to the full version on an iPad because I’m using an M1 iPad Pro. And I’d happily pay for it. Anyway, the bottom line is these instruments are pro-level like the Moog synths are. Some advice if you’re new to physical modeling VIs. Try and get a MPE based controller if possible. With a Roli or some other 3 to 5 dimensional type controller these SWAM based instruments COME TO LIFE! But if that’s not possible, make sure you at least get 2 or 3 controllers, such as an expression pedal, a mod wheel, an iOS based controller, a wind controller, or something. For the full musical experience you’re going to want to control dynamics, vibrato amou
