Sweet Home 3D is an easy to learn interior design application that helps you draw the plan of your house in 2D, arrange furniture on it and visit the results in 3D.
Sweet Home 3D is aimed at people who want to design their interior quickly, whether they are moving or they just want to redesign their existing home or office. You may:
• Draw walls and rooms of your home from scratch or upon the image of an existing plan, on one or more levels.
• Change the color or the texture of the walls, the floors and the ceilings, importing images of your own patterns if needed.
• Drag and drop doors, windows and furniture onto the plan from a catalog of 1610 objects organized by categories, in which you can import 3D models created by yourself or downloaded from the web.
• Customize the size, the orientation, the elevation, the colors and the textures of each piece of furniture.
• View the changes in the plan simultaneously in a 3D view, in which you can navigate either from an aerial view point, or from a virtual visitor view point.
• Create a photorealistic image of your arrangement depending on the time of the day and the light sources placed in the plan.
• Create a video from a virtual path in the 3D view.
• Annotate the plan with room areas, dimension lines, texts, arrows and a compass rose.
• Print the home plan and the 3D view or export them in files at PDF, PNG, JPEG, SVG, OBJ standard formats, to reuse designed homes in other software.

Sweet Home 3D FAQ
Is Sweet Home 3D free?
Yes, Sweet Home 3D is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Sweet Home 3D legit?
🤔 The Sweet Home 3D app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I am a professional designer and I own a professional CAD package, but after reading the wonderful reviews that were posted by other users about this app, I thought that I would give it a go for some quick concept drawings and sketches.
I did not expect the app to have all the bells and whistles, but I did expect it to produce drawings that are technically correct. It took me longer to write this review than it took me to discover the first errors. All CAD apps should follow the basic rules of technical drawing. After all, that is why we purchase these apps.
See Wikipedia for the most basic Technical Drawing Rules on the placement of dimesons.
Dimensions are always read above the dimension line whether dragging the dimension to the top or the bottom of the drawing after placing it and to the left of the line when placing a vertical dimension and read as if you tilt your head to the left. This app does exactly the opposite. (This is n ot something that you can change, it has always been that way)
I suppose the developers could take a look at this small error and fix it, else refund me my money.
2 stars(**) for really trying, (Its not all bad) It could be a useful app………..One Day………..Perhap….…Sometime…..maybe….myabe not…….it depends…..??
Very capable. Relatively simple to learn.
Look, it's not the most attractive piece of software but none in this segment are. Highly capable, with lots of features including daylight simulation.
I designed my home in Sweet Home 3D and the engineer had to do very little to make it into the official plans for construction.
Very impressed with Sweet Home 3D
After struggling with the counter-intuitive tools in SketchUp, I am very happy with the workflow in Sweet Home 3D - it’s so much easier to draw walls, floors, ceilings accurately at different elevations. Though it’s not in the same league as ArchiCad or AutoDesk, it is a complete package for any DIY enthusiast, or new home purchaser who wants to renovate and quickly test out ideas.
You can download the software for free (as its open source) but I chose to pay for it in order to support the developer. Plus you get more 3D models to work with in the paid version.

Really good App for the novice like myself but here in Australia we need Metric measurement. A converter would be great.
Great for what it is. Easy to use. Good value for money
Metric units no problem. Just change in preferences.
The app does support metric measurements
I just bought the app and it does support metric units.
Useful and worth the price
I first used this to decide what furniture would fit in my new house. Now I use it to test out new classroom layouts before actually moving all the furniture around, it works really well.
Well worth the price!
This is excellent home design software for the home/interior design enthusiast or professional. I'm using it at the moment, tossing around ideas to build my first home. It's great, reliable and the best part is you can make your own models on CAD and/or make your own textures and import them using SH3D's importer (though if you're not too fussed on the 800 or so models SH3D already has, you won't need to import models).
Excellent novice tool
Fast app to grasp and a great way for a novice to be creative and design a home. It has some excellent features - the import background image is very handy and reduces work time. The help menu is thorough. Terrific value
Sweet Home 3D
Non-intuitive and impossibly difficult.
I tried carefully reading the help file but it was no help at all.
Dimensions of rooms/objects cannot be accurately controlled.
There is no capability for aligning rooms/objects/borders.
Do not buy this app. It is a complete waste of money.
