The perfect tool for students, teachers and engineers, built on an extremely powerful algebra engine, SymCalc solves any math problems from basic arithmetics to university-level advanced math. It offers all the advantages of an advanced graphing/scientific calculator mixed with the convenience of a modern mobile app.
Features overview:
- Exact arithmetic. 5/15 is 1/3 and not 0.333 (unless you select rounded numerical mode)
- Store unlimited number of variables, create custom functions
- Algebra: operations on polynomials, such as expansion and factorization, collecting terms, division with remainder, etc.
- Calculus: derivatives, integrals, limits, taylor expansion, etc.
- Linear algebra: matrix operations, determinant, rank, reduced echelon form, characteristic polynomial, etc.
- Solvers: single equations or systems, symbolically or numerically, differential equations
- Complex arithmetics
- Graphing
- Session management: export, import sessions or create PDF files
- All built-in functions come with descriptions and examples
- Fully offline

Thanks for the vote
How much does SymCalc cost?
SymCalc has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is $35.00.
I paid for this app long time ago, they changed it to a in-app purchase so I can’t use the premium features like before, this is a scam, why am I paying for something that I purchased before, and the app runs slower and has more bugs than before
Best calculator
It is simple and keeps history of operations.
Like it, but UI fixes needed.
I have been using this for about a day now and I love it except for some UI issues. So I will be using my other favorite : Pcalc Lite half the time at least.
1. Swipe up to switch between apps causes numbers to be entered. I am always switching back and forth between my data feeds and the calculator and every time I return, I need to delete unwanted characters from the swipe up gesture. Really annoying to do this hundreds of times a day. Pcalc does not have this problem, so please do what ever they are doing to fix this annoyance.
2. You need slightly different color shades around the numbers and another different shade of gray around common operators to guide fast number entry. The two color UI is kinda pure but not worth the slowdown caused for entering numbers. People like me are switching back and forth between multiple engineering apps each with its own key layout, multiple times per minute. So a bit of guidance through color is useful. Again, look at Pcalc for a tasteful example.
Also, it would be nice to get rid of the bright background on the answers and just use white text on black - just a personal preference. Thanks for this awesome app!
Advanced college math? Not even close.
I don’t know what college is being referred to by this developer but it’s not the one I attended. There is nothing here that wasn’t covered in my high school math classes. At best, these are sophomore year math at any top engineering institute.
I was hoping for at least a bit of Symbolic Logic and brane calculations. Something useful in physics and knowledge engineering. Nope. Not here — not even with the subscription, not with the + version. This is a typical CAS port. Looks like it’s back to Mathematica.
SymCalc
It is an excellent application. It is very easy to use and it is far more convenient than the average calculators app I have used so far. I quite recommend it.
Derivation , integration with basic statistic
These should be free
steal
works with all numbers and gives you the choice to approximate irrational and transcendental numbers or leave them be.
A little concerned
I have used this app for also number of years so I don't really understand why it is now subscription based over an outright purchase? The difference between the Symcalc and Symcalc+ are not properly explained. It seems like the developer is hoping on board the subscription train like most others, but the there doesn't seem to be any added features with each update as is normally associated with a subscription.
The part that finally made me write a negative review is the fact that the app cannot handle the simple function "integrate(sqrt(cosh(x)),x,0,1)" it just returns the same function without any error message. The hp49 app on the app store can handle this easily! Dev please fix this.
Trying This Again
I used the prior version of this app until I updated my devices which killed that version.
As a retired IT professional I have mixed feelings about this situation. I am a bit surprised that the prior app could not be altered to run under iOS 11 but as my programming has been for *nix & Windows I cannot make an informed judgement there. I also understand that the app developers have to receive a reasonable return on their time.
I am giving this a 4 star review with very little exposure to the app & hope this version will perform as well as the prior one did. After more time with the app I will update this review & expect this text to be replaced by a 5 star review.
Not trusting again
I had paid for the pre-iOS11 version and this calculator worked ok. When iOS11 came along, this developer dropped that version cold and is trying to sell it again. This dumbed down version doesn’t let you try any advance calculations to see if it’s better, only does math a very basic calc can do.
I just can’t justify paying AGAIN for a calculator I can’t test if it’s improved from a developer known to drop its paying customers hoping to resell the same thing for more money.
