Cool

Great Roguelite

The mechanics for this are deceptively simple, building up to make lots of interesting choices and playstyle. I like how the two characters have very different feels and each has their own varied styles to play. The game is very challenging, I’ve only gotten to the final chapter a couple times and only with one character, but it’s been quite fun (challenge is a feature of roguelite/like games). My biggest gripe is that it clearly was translated into English and a handful of the cards can be challenging to understand due to some strange translation choices. There are a few mechanics that are confusing until you play them a few times to figure out what the card text means or you identify its patterns. For example the duration of abilities or how often they trigger isn’t always clear. It makes it seem inconsistent, but I suspect this would be remedied by more clear card text. Overall a fun little game worth the $4 to unlock the full game. I hope they add more cards, characters, or play modes in the future!

I have an issue to report

The artifact Eternal Shield is not working properly for me. It says “retain shield between turns,” but it’s only letting me keep 10 shield at maximum. Also the artifact Takeaway Meal isn’t working. Overall it’s a fun game, very good looking. But a lot of balance issues with combat in the current build of the game

Game crash

It crashes directly after I collect the first card after the first tutorial battle, the concept is good and the cards are interesting though.

Monetization

This games monetization feels predatory. It doesn’t show how much the things cost in game.

Great Mechanics, too difficult

I purchased both campaigns. Even after the purchase, the game is a bit difficult. When you have to depend on certain cards like shield cards to come from the draw deck, and they don’t show up, you lose easily. I have played through about 6 times and can’t get past area 2. Now I am having trouble getting out of area 1. Enemies are over powered. I tried a different combination of cards, but still lose. I get it’s a challenge, but shouldn’t be impossible.

good game

nice and simple game to understand and play, excellent choice! 👍

Fun game

It’s a nice, well designed rouge like deck builder. Feels good to play, and has a nice variety of cards Not sure why someone would rate this 1 star. The developer lets you play the first part of the campaign for free, and if you like it you can buy the full campaign for $2. There are two campaigns, so $4 is the maximum you would pay, which is less than you would pay for other games like this.

Good spin on deck building

I have played every deck building game I find since Dream Quest first came out years ago. The market has become so saturated that it’s difficult to find ones that do anything new. This adds a simple but fun mechanic where the enemies move around on a grid. It’s not just a gimmmick. It does affect what cards you can play and how you plan moves. The character Lucas has very interesting mechanics I haven’t seen before where cards will add fear. This is negative because it forces you to discard a card every move you make, but it also makes cards you use more powerful (such as repeating their effect for every few levels of fear you have). It’s different enough that I’m happy to come back to it rather than playing once or twice then going back to Slay the Spire. As to the review complaining you only get to play one level for free, the only in app purchase in the game is to get the whole thing for $3.99. It’s not as if it’s some freemium game that you pay to win. You get to try it and buy if you like. I recommend buying it.

You can only play one level for free.

Like I said in the title, you can only access one character, you have to buy the other one and you can only play the first level for free before you HAVE TO buy to continue. Very greedy scheme. I do want to say, however, that it is a decent game to play and ran rather smooth (for me at least).
