Talk For Me Reviews

Absolute life saver

fixative XYZ on

Australia

I’m Autistic, & when I get very overwhelmed, I can’t talk out loud. I recently had to go to a hospital’s emergency department when this happened, & used this app to speak with the medical staff. It worked well. There were a few times when the staff asked me another question while I was typing my response to the previous question, but that’s more on them than the app. I also have vision problems, & the fact the default buttons are large is super helpful. Being able to save phrases is also a life saver. I can’t thank the dev enough for not only making a great accessibility app, but also making it super cheap & without ads! It’s rare for that to happen nowadays.

Talk for me - text to speech

As a Laryngectomee, I can thoroughly recommend the capability and simplicity of this app. Being able to archive personalised long sentences with a single word (or more) topic, is brilliant; as is the ability to select a variety of male or female voice options with simple instructions in the App Store description as to how to achieve that. Within minutes I was able to set-up numerous sentences topics: welcome, be patient, enough about me, how are you; and Nurse assistance requests for: medications, shower, toilet, pyjamas, etc. If I, at 75, can navigate my way around this app so confidently, quickly and easily, I’m sure you will too. I will be bringing it to the attention of my Speech Pathologist Clinicians this coming week. 10/10 Darrin Altman (Developer) for making this app available. You are a true humanitarian. Thank you. John H.

Very useful app

This is a great app for those who have lost speech. I use it after having a laryngectomy and l have recommended it to others in similar situations. It is particularly useful for storing ‘emergency’ sentences for use when vocalisation fails and a writing pad is not available. Excellent resource for those in need.

Great app

This app was used by my partner while in ICU with a breathing tube, it was the easiest way for him to be able to ask for things he needed. Being able to save custom phrases that were specific to him was the best feature. Also the large buttons were a great help as his motor function was reduced. Thank you developer for making life easier

Great app

I think it is a very good app for people who can not speak but it needs to have different tones for different moods your in. Like if ur happy the voice is a happy voice and if ur sad it's a sad voice etc. maybe it can have a list of different faces and u can click on one to show ur emotion.. While texting. And when u full stop it goes back to normal voice until you choose a different emotion Because I am disabled and I can't speak and I would like to show emotions when I type text to speak..

I had great hopes…

The app often crashes when I press the button to let it talk. They should fix whatever causes it.

After gaining a moderate speech impediment from oral cancer I needed something to help me communicate. Particularly while speaking on the phone which was a nightmare. This app is a godsend. And it's free. It's not ad-supported, it's completely free. Thank you!

God-Send for Vocal Chord Disorders

I use this every single day, all day long. I have a vocal chord disorder called Functional Dysphonia. This is how I communicate with everyone. I can even type to speak on the phone by putting my phone near my ipad to hear the words. I don’t know what I would do with this wonderful app! Thanks so much to the developers! I would love to hear more voices that sound more natural— but still thankful for this way to communicate!

Good, but how exactly do you archive a sentence??

Nellow123 on

I got Talk for Me today and like it so far, but I can’t figure out how to archive a sentence. I am wondering how to archive a conversation. 11/23/21-I figured out how to archive a sentence. I really like Talk for Me. Thank you for making it. I saw that there’s a new update and I’m curious about how you’d use the update.
