TeachMe: 2nd Grade is the fourth installment in the popular TeachMe series of educational apps for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. TeachMe: 2nd Grade teaches six age-appropriate subjects to second grade children: spelling, sight words, long addition, long subtraction, fast addition and fast subtraction. TeachMe: 2nd Grade's unique TeachTech character recognition engine interprets a child's written answers, helping to reinforce writing skills while teaching math and spelling.

TeachMe: 2nd Grade keeps children engaged with a unique reward system where children earn coins by playing learning games at the school. They can move around the rest of TeachTown to spend their coins on fun rewards. Children can make fun photos at the Photobooth, collect stretchable shapes at the Shape Store, visit their virtual aquarium at the Fish Store, and decorate different scenes at the Art Store. The simple and intuitive user interface is designed to be child friendly, which allows children to play without help from an adult. An animated teacher (Mimi Mouse) gives verbal instructions and feedback to encourage the child to learn and succeed! In addition, the learning screens are colorful, fun and rotate between six different subjects so children don't get bored.

TeachMe: 2nd Grade is the only educational app which reads your child's writing using TeachTech, 24x7digital's writing recognition engine. Children write their answers for math and spelling questions and TeachMe: 2nd Grade reads them using TeachTech. If your child needs help, TeachMe: 2nd grade will show them how to write the correct answer including the proper stroke order.

Each child has an achievements screen which motivates and encourages learning by showing progress and levels for each topic. Parents can use this screen to quickly see progress of their child. Parents can select which subjects they want, set different difficulty levels, and even choose specific questions. Parents can also review performance history for each subject to check how their child is doing.

Excellent learning app - Best I have found!

I cannot recommend the "Teach Me" series more. Both of our kids enjoy playing the games and collecting virtual prizes. I put all 4 apps on the phone and they can keep them occupied on the move (eg in car!). Our eldest is 5 and has worked all way through the 4 Stages from Toddler and is now on Grade 2. It is great way of helping their language and arithmetic in a fun way. I searched many educational apps and these are by far the best. Colin. UK

Love this app

Recently my little one (who is approaching the end of year one) was racing through the grade 1 version of this app. I therefore bought him this version to challenge him a little. He loves it, and is totally blown away by the photo booth reward feature. He is so excited by this new feature that he can't wait to answer more questions to earn more coins so he can customise more photos he has taken. In fact this evening He got out of bed to look for the ipad so he can continue playing. If only he was this motivated at school. Okay, if you are British I can confirm that the spellings are British, however it does not have a British speaking voice (not a problem for us but I know that some parents prefer it). If I could change anything in this section I would probably put the words to be spelt in the context of a sentence 'spell 'by''but which is it - buy or by If you are not familiar with the TeachMe range of Apps you will be impressed by the customise options panel in the settings. There you will be able to turn on and off sections of the app such as individual words to complete topics. To the makers of the app my son wants to know if he can save his photos to the photo-steam gallery or perhaps email them to some one.

My son loves it. He wants to keep on with the questions just so he can bank his gold coins.
