TED Tumblewords NETFLIX Reviews

Tumblewords playa

Love the game but rarely can I find anyone to play against. If you come out with a good word your opponent bails or never shows up at all.

TED, did you check this?

Whatever concession/fee the TED organization received for this license wasn’t enough. The harm done to the reputations of both Netflix and TED from this basic, problematic, buggy app makes me like everything less. The streak counts are constantly wrong, the dictionaries are inadequate, the ‘reward’ facts are poorly researched/worded, and the entire experience makes one yearn for a world without language. The grunts of cavepersons would be preferable. The execs in charge of this green-light need serious oversight. Ugh.

Great Concept, Could Use Improvement

faxeleun on

This is one of the better word games I’ve seen in a while. I love the game concept and how clean the UI is. I’m also a fan of the different challenges the game offers. I would like to know what dictionary this game uses and/or how the list of valid words is generated. I’ve had some very common words not be accepted (e.g. “nerd” and “gene”) and I found it quite frustrating. I also wish there were a way to set an option for timed moves when searching for a game. Something like 1-2 minutes per move would be ideal. At the very least, for the longer player vs. player games, there should be a maximum number of days you can take to make a move before forfeiting the game. Thank you for all your hard work in developing this game! Looking forward to future the updates.

Word Washed

I am astounded by the basic words missing from the game’s dictionary. The final straw was when the word “wed” did not count. I am offended. This is censorship and wrong and I refuse to play it anymore. Too bad, because it was a fun game until this happened.

No complaints except..

All of my player vs player games show the other user as “unknown” - I set the game up on my grandmothers iPad and set her username in the Netflix game settings but she is still showing up as “unknown” on my end. Hard to tell games apart from each other.

Mostly great

A good, less pretentious version of that one newspapers game. One annoying thing on the harder levels is there’s no “forfeit and do over “ when you mess up and are 600 points behind. Not real fun to continue after you lose the round.

It’s disappointing that they limit game time to just a few minutes.

Bots in Player vs player?

Kiwi Tealc on

United States

I really enjoy this game, but recently in the “player vs. player” mode, opponents will join a game but act entirely like a bot. They respond instantly no matter when you take your turn, and they don’t seem concerned with winning, so it makes the game kind of pointless. I’d rather wait a long time for a real opponent than play against a bot when I can do that in other parts of the game. One other thing I don’t like is when the buttons bounce around on the home page. It’s weirdly stressful. Also maybe it’s just me, but the quotes and fun facts aren’t that interesting. I read them because I feel like I should, but honestly I just want to skip past them.

Gray matter gaming 🧠

The game crashed on me the very first time I played, but after reloading it worked just fine. Looking forward to enriching my intellectual wellness with this awesome game! I love how it spits out these little random odd facts after finishing a match. Playing against the bot definitely keeps you on your toes. 👍

Very fun

A straightforward but very slick word puzzle game with an interesting fact after every game.
