Disappointing

Fazer1k143 on

I downloaded the TextEdit app thinking it may be a great option to use on my iPad but unfortunately I was not presented with an acceptable opportunity to find out. On starting the software after download, a popup blocked me from trying anything until I had clicked on the option to start a three-day trial followed by paying a monthly fee. Firstly, I resist subscribing to anything monthly and, secondly, the information on the App Store listed the option to make a one-off payment for the app which is the option I would have taken had I liked the software. I was not impressed by the omission of the payment options listed on the App Store, particularly as the option NOT to pay via regular commitment was the reason I went ahead with the download. My rating is a result of this experience only. I may have liked the app had I got past the annoying popup!

I don’t want a free premium trial

I just want to use the free version and I don’t want to be coerced into potentially paying for something.

Forces you to accept a free trial for premium features to use (i.e in-app purchase is *required*)

I wanted to try this app to see if it would work for me generally. Unfortunately on opening it will seemingly not allow you to proceed to actually use it unless you agree to a 3 day trial of the TextEdit+ features - which will then run on automatically and begin charging you after the trial period unless you cancel. This may not be a deal-breaker for many, but I deleted immediately. I am in the market for a good text editor and may have ended up paying for the premium features, but this forced approach has put me off for this particular app. Like many apps, this is flagged as ‘in-app purchases are available’, perhaps it should really be flagged as ‘in-app purchases are required’.

Clunky and slow.

When wading through the fonts to see which one I want it’s as if it brings my iPhone 14 Pro to a halt. It’s quite jerky and slow. Text colours don’t always correspond with what I select and menus are written over other text. It just feels not quite there. Sorry to say. It has the potential to be a great app. But after using it for an hour it’s not the best.

I don’t want the AI. I want a simple text editor

This is a Paid app

it doesn’t provide an (x) to dismiss the stupid free trial popup so you can’t use the app unless you pay

App is broken?!

Lithon the Black on

I use this app ALL the time because I find it so useful. After some time I paid for the “full unlock” and its worked like a dream. However since the last iOS update non of my PDFs open properly, all subsequent pages after page 1 have mysteriously disappeared! Please help! I use this app extensively for some rather important research l’m involved with and without it, after several years of work, I would need to virtually start from scratch. Any help appreciated!

Too many bugs.

Monkuku munkoko on

The idea of the app is great but it’s not working correctly. You open a document on iPhone and you have no button to go back to dashboard. The format button disappears after you use it once. Etc etc. Due to the list of things like this, the experience is below par. I have sent a note to support team, let’s see if there is hope, because the promise of the app is great, the reality for now is not.

Very good value for versatile editor

I bought this mainly to edit text files on cloud drives. It does this perfectly for me and I am now using it for a lot of other small tasks too. The description in the AppStore sets out clearly what this app can do. Highly recommended, particularly as it is a one-off purchase at a very reasonable price.

Good App
