This is a great idea, and much needed. However, my experience thus far is very poor. No volunteering opportunities within 200 miles of me, other than “mapping Scotland”, volunteering in a PDSA shop in Falkirk and volunteer driving in York! There ought to have been a concerted effort to attract and sign up volunteering organisations prior to the public launch. The organisations’ registration phase could have been managed as a build-up to the public launch. A missed - and sorely needed - opportunity.
