The Boiled One Reviews

I will review this horror game lightly as it is FREE with no ads. This game has potential, although it does feel like a passion project by one guy who makes games on Unity in their free time (but that’s probably all it takes to make something amazing). Even though the AI might be bugged, story has no depth and the map is too small for the kind movement you’re giving the player, however the game has a general foundation to it. As a game designer, I know making games is difficult which is why I think this game has potential!

Tedious and frustrating

There is nothing to do in this game. You can pop popcorn and pick up objects and maybe open cabinets, but those don’t aid you in any way. They’re just cosmetics. There’s a safe, but good luck figuring out the passcode. The gameplay for the nights is the same thing over and over with minor differences. Sometimes ‘the boiled one’ will show up and a sound will play. However, he is often not even in the same room as you when he shows up. Also hiding away from him is impossible. The game will tell you where to go and I will go there and well, he still gets me. It’s frustrating. Then you have to watch an ad to revive. After watching this ad (you will get many by the way), you are in the exact same place as you died. This allows you to be killed again in the exact same place instead of spawning you somewhere else. However, this whole thing of the game telling you where to hide is rare. Some nights you just hear some sound effects and wait for it to end. I played through about ten nights of this game and I can’t think of anyone who would want to play an infinite amount of nights in a game where there’s barely anything to do but wait until the night ends and hope that hiding away from ‘the boiled man’ actually works. There’s not much storyline either. There’s no goals, no directions, no idea of what to really do. There’s this video that will play on the TV in the room you wake up in that’s barely audible and it basically tells you nothing. It’s just a seemingly scary video that plays. It’s not like the next night the video changes. It’s the same exact video that plays. Was it that hard to make another one? So overall, it doesn’t really add anything. Even if there’s more that happens as you progress through the nights, the first ten should be interesting or have some kind of goal in them. It’s just a waiting game and sometimes you get to see ‘ the boiled man’ appear. Overall, this game is just frustrating to play. The description of this game made it sound somewhat promising, but I’m sure it was probably written by AI because there’s no way I played the same game as it described. Your time is better spent playing a good horror game not this barely boiled game. Do not play.

TOO MANY ADS

If I can rate this game 0 starts I would. I got two ads back to back as soon as I clicked on the game, I haven’t even started the actual game play. I kid you not as soon as I DID join the game play I got another pair of ads…. Almost every time I clicked the screen to move or interact with the game here comes more ads…. I will not play this game ever again or any games by the creator. It would’ve been nice if It weren’t so many goddamn ads…
