The app's major shortcoming lies in its approach to recommending restaurants for people with celiac disease. Including fast-food chains like Chipotle, Wendy's, and Five Guys is misleading and, frankly, an insult to those who require stringent gluten-free environments. These establishments, while popular, are notorious for their high risk of cross contamination, which can have severe health consequences for individuals with celiac disease. Cross contamination is not a minor issue; it's a matter of serious health concern. The casual manner in which this app addresses it is alarming. The recommendations seem to disregard the fundamental needs of its target audience, thereby providing dangerously inaccurate information. They should be educated as to why they should be avoided, and all the things that can and do go wrong trying to order fast food as a celiac at these establishments. I had hoped this app would be a beacon of support, guiding users to safe dining experiences. Instead, it feels like a misguided attempt that trivializes the seriousness of celiac disease. It's imperative for the developers to understand that when it comes to health, accuracy and safety cannot be compromised. Revising the restaurant recommendations to include truly gluten-free establishments is crucial. Instead of promoting fast food places you should be exposing the false hope they give to new celiacs trying to navigate their disease. Asking restaurant employees for a gluten free bun or just changing their gloves does not make you safe. In its current form, I cannot recommend this app to others in the celiac community. I urge the developers to take this feedback seriously and make significant changes. Accurate information and safe dining options are not just preferences; they are necessities. Five Guys, Wendy’s, and Chipotle, amongst many others come with severe risks and promoting them in any way other than that is a danger to the community.
