Lots of ads

I love the site and the service, but the ads are pretty overwhelming. The banner ads and interstitial popups do make me wonder about resubscribing.

Can’t sign in; have to register even for free stories

update dreader on

United States

This is the most difficult to use news app I have. I have the most recent updates for my phone and app, and even just reset my password… still can’t login. And why do we need to register and login to read free stories, anyway? Why isn’t your Marketing Dept doing a better job of garnering ads, so that there are more free (and easily accessible) news stories, like other local news apps (ABC24, CA, WREG) have? Yours is the only app that immediately opens to a login site, rather than news article titles. Does Daily Memphian want an educated Memphis? Or is DM intentionally catering to only the tiny elite section of Memphis that can afford it’s pricey subscription fees (*reminder: the median household income is $48k here - this is not NYC or LA) and can afford wasting its time with login issues?

The newspaper does a very good job and enjoy on the internet BUT can’t login with app. Have written support about the problem several times to no avail.

Ver 1.1 broken

App was working as expected until this recent (July 2021) update to version 1.1. Please revert back to the old or fix the new one. The 901 depends on the lovely folks of The Daily Memphian to deliver our local news from those that love M-Town! Gotta have it!
