The Fitness Chef Reviews

Love it

I’ve been using the app for almost a month and love it, it’s very easy to use. The only thing I would change is making a favorite list from the custom food list and being able to modify quantities from the daily planner.

Excellent app

Thus is an excellent app. I loved the fitness chef for years. His common sense , science backed approached to food. It’s enlightening and refreshing. He de-stigmatizes food and diets in general. Long overdue.

So far so good!

This app is great because it sets you realistic caloric goals. I’m eating more protein than ever utilizing both the “protein goal” target and the recipes. Love the way you can filter your recipes by many different variable (calories, ingredient, meal, cuisine). Recipes are also REAL FOOD. I’ve utilized other “meal planning” apps and the recipes are strange combinations (no I don’t want to eat 3 prawns with 250g of zucchini for breakfast and I don’t want to feel hungry all day). The recipes are flavourful, l good sized portions and don’t require specialized grocery trips. There are some kinks. But the app is consistently being worked on. Things needing work: - The food planner search, when I go back. I don’t want to have to re-enter the item again. - The progress section could use an overhaul, I want to see my progress more clearly both body measurements AND weight. I want to see total weight/inches lost on a clearer graph or heading. With more measurement capability (full body measurements vs the 3 available) - when I create a recipe. I want to be able to make a batch recipe and then log my portions based on the total weight of the recipe (ex: making chilli I add 500g beef, 500g beans, 500ml stock as my batch. I eat 250g total, I want to be able to save my recipe and log my g eaten)

Don’t fall for the marketing hype

Not the easiet app to navigate- extremely poor support with any issues only interested in your money

Not great for tracking calories, okay for recipe inspiration

App is still new and I like the selection of recipes, most are all easy to follow and budget friendly. Unfortunately the ai generated photos really put me off the food. For tracking calories I really don’t recommend the app I do find it combersome with the search that I can’t search my own recipes that I’ve added. I struggle with reading and personally I don’t love the search function it’s a bit hard to narrow down what I’m looking for and would be nice if there was a better visual of the list alternate background colours(better contrast)/ emojis/ photographs next to ingredients rather than just a line as there is a lot of information for each item. There’s a lot of basic ingredients that aren’t on the app that I would expect to be on. When adding in your own recipes would be good to add your own photograph and if you could just search for your own recipes, and even possibly the opportunity to make the recipe public to share with other users . When adding an item to the planner I wish you could edit the quantities and meal, without having to delete and re-add the item again. When it comes to recording weight, I have a smart scale that I use everyday and it’ll update the apple health app to track trends. Disappointing that the fitness chef app doesn’t use my weight measurements from the health app when they are already transferring data on my step count feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Overall I don’t feel like the app is worth paying the subscription, plenty of apps out there that do a better job

No better than free apps

Did a free trial of this but found it no better than my fitness pal which is free. Was then charged after first year. Thought I’d cancelled it so emailed 3 times to ask for support & to check if I had cancelled my subscription but nobody ever got back to me. Very disappointed as would have at least expected a reply. Even if it was to say I was mistaken.

It’s ok but I’m hoping there will be some more!

Love the diet concept having tired of SW, Ww etc with their rules and syns etc. very disappointing that this doesn’t sync with Apple health and that for excercise that is not steps there are limited options for recording. Recipes are quite good though. Seem to be some missing basic ingredients on the food list. Will stick with it for the time being but would love some more content

Took money although cancelled and now ignoring me

I have given the team a good chance to get back to me, couple of emails and emailed on socials. I don’t appreciate being ignored, and my money is tight as it is. When I cancelled the subscription and deleted the app, I assumed I wouldn’t get charged. I didn’t see any benefit in the app beyond what my fitness pal offers. Fitness chef, just stick to the runny insta posts, they are hilarious

Good but not Great, yet.

I love the app in general and downloaded it initially because I love the fitness chef’s whole ethos. However, after tracking for a whole week I lost my flow when trying to input my updated weight measurement, as I can only input this in kgs, and not st & lbs. I have dyscalculia and therefore struggle with numbers. So as I’ve always understood and used stones and lbs, kilos means nothing to me. Unfortunately, not being able to add my progress was enough for me to just lose all momentum. I had reported this issue 3-4 weeks ago, but it still hasn’t been fixed, and so I have ended up back using MyFitnessPal again :(

Signed up for free trial charged £40

Writing a 1 star review having tried three times over a month long period to get a response from customer support with only an automated reply. Following the 14 day free trial I wished to cancel as the app was glitchy, clunky and not of use to me. I tried to cancel it via the app store/subscriptions on my iPhone but there was no facility for this. The subscription is set up in a very bizarre way that doesn’t use the usual method. I only used the app for the first few days of the trial and haven't done so since. No reply to 3 emails yet receive pushy emails soliciting positive reviews on the App Store. Love Graeme’s content on Instagram but the poor customer service for this app and completely lack of transparency in regards to the free trial and subsequent billing. I’m £40 out of pocket and can see from other review that I’m not the only one to be duped in this way.
