The Gardens Between Reviews
A waste of $3.99
This game(?) isn't really a game. I'm not sure what you'd call it since there is no real game play, just constant scrolling left and right. I don't normally pay for an unknown game(?) but it was recommended on YouTube and it was an editors choice. This game(?) is the reason I will NEVER pay first for a game before at least a free trial period. I wish I could get my money back for this waste of an app (it is NOT a game). You have hurt a lot of other app developers with this piece of trash (that is a better description than game is), because I won't trust buying their apps without a free trial.
Most creative and clever game
I don’t download games a lot and when I do they are puzzle games like Room, House of DaVinci, Machinarium, Botanicula, Samarost. Many years ago I played Myst series and even very old school: The Manhole. I love those games and play them over again because there are just a few well-made puzzle games. Others are disappointing.
The Gardens in Between is absolutely unique and possibly the most creative puzzle game I’ve played in my 57 years. Gameplay involves what I considered memory islands and involve gathering light into a lantern, time shifting, jumping boxes, fog bridges, and using electricity and old technology (like printing) in creative ways. There is a wholesome bond between two friends that you see in memories. I had a tear or two at the end.
One thing about gameplay that I found was that I didn’t get immersed for hours when playing. I would complete an island and then I’d typically stop and play another day. I think this was because the goal each time was sort of similar (get a lighted lantern to the top). But it was quite an interesting diversion and that is basically the biggest thing you want from a game app. Well done! I look forward to what you create later on.
Fun and engaging!
For some other similar games, I have given up and looked up how to solve the puzzles, but these make sense. Some are more challenging than others, but they are solvable. Beyond that, the theme is really sweet, and I enjoy the artwork. This is my favorite iPad game.
So fun and relaxing Puzzle I love puzzle games
Just the puzzle games, do you know
Like Monument Valley, but more beautiful and interactive
This game is one of the top 5 games I've played on the iPad, right up there with Edith Finch, Wild Rift, and Wolf Among Us.
Just wow
I wanted a cozy game I could play in between doom scrolling, I’m amazed at how beautiful this game is. I’m blown away!
Unique Experience
I’m not a huge gamer but this was a pleasant surprise. The graphics and story line is really captivating. I really enjoyed playing it. The start of the game was kinda confusing and I had to watch walk through videos to figure it out but once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed the puzzles. I think the only thing it was missing was a basic tutorial but overall I want to play more. Really well done, just WOW!
This is not a game
This app is not a game. It is barely an interactive story. This is someone’s passion project. It is not worth $5. Absolute drizzle!
Not happy requesting a refund
This game doesn’t work for me.
Needs better MFI controller support
I love this game. I have it on all of my game systems. The touch controls are good, but I prefer playing with controllers when I can. The only problem I have with this version is when I plug in my Backbone controller the game automatically shuts off or doesn’t start. That why it’s 4 stars out of 5.
