Great concept… but utility and convenience are just not there. After you read the book just find another tracker. This app is old and clunky, not intuitive, not user friendly and I regret buying.
Love the new wizard! Interface is intuitive. Much improved.
I’ve tried many goal tracking apps and I always come back to Habit Factor. My main criteria for rating an app is: does it do what it’s supposed to do without a lot of fuss and irrelevant bells a and whistles? This one does.
It continuously crashes, will not back up, deleted all goals, and will not save new ones. Also there's no tech support or help provided when issues arise. Headache waiting to happening!!!
If you don't have a mail account set up, there is a popup every. single. time. you. open. the. app.... It's quite annoying. Also, entering text into the "Why?" section of a goal can sometimes lose all my typing! One miss tap and poof, your long reason is blank.... very annoying. Other than those issues, this app was well thought out and quite functional. For building a new routine or breaking old habits, this app can be quite helpful. I have always thought that having a concrete, tangible goal paired with approprate habits or "micro tasks" would be the best possible productivity app.... This app does have the top-level goals and sub-level habits, but there is no distinctive micro-task. This would be great for big goals that have steps but are not necessarily habit based... For example, a goal could be "buy a house", with habits/tasks such as "make a future budget", "inquire about financing", "call a real estate agent", etc. The next task could activate the day after the previous task is marked as completed.
I read the book, The Habit Factor, a couple of years ago. When it came time to develop and track some habits, I found it just too overwhelming for me. Fast forward to last December and somehow I was fortunate enough to receive an email from Martin Grunburg about a webinar on Focus and Discipline. I need both in my life. During the webinar he said that feeling (or being) overwhelmed is simply not making a decision about what is most important...an inability to prioritize. And in an answer to a question I had about the emotional aspect of developing strength to stick to your habits, he said that the trick is to basically think about something else besides the obstacles that you face (my paraphrase, not his actual statement). A simple but different way to get your mind on the right track. I re-read the book, got the app, am participating in an accountability group, and now listening to these podcasts. The perspective he offers isn't vastly different from other things I've read or listened to, but the idea of developing a habit and tracking it and succeeding with one and then another and another and so on IS different and that is what appeals to me. I have had to really focus on what was the one habit I could work on to help me reach my goals. I am still taking baby steps but before long I think I can really build good momentum with this process as I master just one habit and then add in some more. The podcasts offer a variety and perspective I haven't found elsewhere.
Get with the times, so old 👴🏼 Interface is old and the way it works. Needs a makeover I'll bet they haven't updated the interface since 2009. I'm sorry I paid $10 as I already found another app that has swipe gestures and is more modern with a great interface. Perhaps the Habit Factor is a good book so perhaps check out their website or their audiobook.
Buy the book. Listen to the podcast (habits2goals). Buy the book. The only thing missing is Herr Dieter Mination to get me to actually follow through with the plans I make.
I have been aware of some of the concepts addressed within this application but have never been able to address and apply them until now. Building the habit of observing and building positive habits is huge IMO. I am grateful and hopeful to move forward with the process of action through the use of this app.
