The Herald Reviews

News Section not working

Colin GW on

United Kingdom

Been using the app on my phone for a month now but suddenly the News section wont load any stories. The other sections "Sport"etc are fine but not the main news section has a blank screen. Tried the trouble shooting "uninstall, update etc etc" but still no joy. Can read the paper version but not as easy to read as the app version of the stories.

Buggy app no longer usable

aha-man on

United Kingdom

For months now, in IOS, if you’re in the NEWS mode, articles flip back to the main browser front page randomly as you’re reading them. Doesn’t occur if you use the PAPER mode but that is pretty hard to read on a phone. The Herald/Newsquest will say they have v little budget to maintain this app but it costs money to be a regular reader and the product doesn’t work properly any more.

The app doesn't really work at the moment

Keeps refreshing to home

Macktic on

United Kingdom

While reading an article it keeps refreshing to the home page. Very annoying. I preferred the old app when it was still working, that would download as well so I could read with bad reception indoors if I remembered to refresh before taking my break.

Poor show

Why change the app to this poor update? Unable to enlarge screen, poor navigational tools. Altogether thinking of not renewing subscription when due for renewal.

Is this really the app for a major newspaper?

Aile2 on

Until recently this app was fine for reading the digital edition. Now the Herald has changed something in the background and my subscription is not recognised. It’s fine in the website but no go with the app. Poor show Herald.

The best way to read the e-edition of the Herald

bromleyboy21 on

This app is certainly the best way to read the e-edition of the Herald if you have a subscription to it. The alternative is to access it through your browser but I find the app a lot quicker and easier to use.

Avoid at all costs

Norriemca on

United Kingdom

I have been a Herald reader for many years and decided to try 1 x week of the digital version at £7.99 I downloaded the app and Apple took my money from my account. However every time I entered the app and clicked on the front page to read the edition, a pop up appeared asking me to subscribe. No way could I get past this to read the newspaper. I have tried to get my subscription cancelled but no chance. No interest or feedback from Apple. I contacted the developer and explained the problem at length. I attached photos of the pop up and my paid subscription. I had one standard reply which clearly showed the developer had not even read my email complaint. I emailed again and got no reply. So, folks 1) Beware of Apple who steal money without reason or support and 2) do not bother with this app or any other from this lousy, disinterested developer.

Never works!

This app is very poor. It consistently fails to accept my login / password although the same credentials are recognised (mainly) by the website.
