National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) has announced it will be able to fully operate Great Britain’s electricity system with zero carbon by 2025.
The App allows the user to monitor the generation types that make up your electricity supply and see when the cleanest time to use electricity will be. See the carbon impact level of electricity generation, how your region compares to others in GB and be notified when a record towards decarbonisation breaks.

Doesn’t take into account NG saving sessions

The app needs updating to show when the grid is rewarding customers to reduce load on the grid. It doesn’t currently show this so sadly is becoming less useful

Great app, really interesting to measure change

Only minor criticism (easy fix) is the dashboard text for the percentage of zero carbon is the same colour (purple) as the display for the gas consumed… always makes me think they are linked at first glance. That aside, great app.

Fascinating

Fascinating insights into how we generate power. Did you know the North East of England has Britain’s greenest power? That on one day in January some 87% of Britain’s electricity was zero carbon? Get this app…

No landscape iPad app.

Please add rotation for iPad to allow this app to display correctly in landscape mode.

Good but need more regional data

The app is useful to see the current carbon intensity across the country and also specifically in the region that you are in. I like the intensity forecast but it only displays the national average. What we really need is the carbon intensity forecast for each specific region. Then I can plan ahead and see when the cleanest time to use the grid is in my region. It’s almost there, just add regional forecasts please.

Would like to know stats such as current/historical usage and input from inter connectors etc. very clear and easy to use

Great data

I love this app, check it regularly to try and work out the best time to set home appliances to run. I’d like to see region-specific best time to use, rather than just national. Although maybe it doesn’t matter as demand anywhere on the grid has an impact?

Difficult to read

The app is good in principle but I find it impossible to read the pale colours on white background. Can you not put the letters in black next to a sample of the colour used in the Pie Chart?

Inconsistent with other data sources

It's confusing that this app recommends different times to the other National Grid app. It's odd that different parts of the same organisation have both made apps, but you'd expect them to agree on the numbers! Ideally there'd be one app, with the clear display that this app provides,and the alerts available in the outer one.

Great App - update idea

This is a great app - would be great if it could have an option to send notifications of when it’s best to use electricity (when it’s cleanest) so you don’t always have to go into app!
