The Press and Journal Scotland Reviews

Disappointed

Donnie Painter on

United Kingdom

P&J was my main read for many years now. Even on Press Reader, when away from the area it had a great app. I’m 78 and struggle with the current app even to the point I’m letting my subscription lapse partly because of these infernal pop up asking me to subscribe to what I have already paid for and then closing me out for cancelling. The online version is equally tiresome again with uncalled for pop ups. I have several subscriptions for daily papers and never have any problem with any of them. I admit I’m finding withdrawals from P&J challenging but your electronic paper is powerfully motivating for me to overcome. I do wish you well with your previously informative and entertaining local paper of choice for this aging teuchter.

Terrible

Bakeart on

United Kingdom

I have about half a dozen newspaper apps over the last few years and this is the worst by far. Mostly down to unnecessary changes poorly though through. Get it right then leave it alone, P & J!

Awful

Bramble06* on

United Kingdom

New app even worse than the old one. E-paper often isn’t online until after 0700 and then it is a case of zooming in and out to read a story as there is no longer a version where each story can be read individually. When you complain they simply say you don’t have a subscription! I don’t now, as I’ve cancelled it.

P & J New App

BillIrene on

United Kingdom

Sorry, but the new app is not nearly as good as the old one particularly on the Epaper version. Can’t go directly to the back page (I’ve always read my P & J from back to front). Also, I was looking for a previous issue but can’t seem to to be able to do it. As another reader has said - “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”!

P&J app

Fyellsdor on

United Kingdom

Not all usual puzzles accessible. Print icon does not work at all. It would be useful to have an indication that an answer to a clue is right or wrong.

Poor upgrade

Davidgail on

United Kingdom

Not as good with epaper as last version. App switches off after coming back to it, the page initially freezes, so have to go back to start then on again.

Disappointed when trying to read online P&J

Wee eak on

United Kingdom

Tried to read the P&J whilst on holiday in Edinburgh and it was only possible to do so if I signed in to piano os which apparently wants to share my details this I strongly disagree with. I pay the required subscription and should able to access the paper without signing up to this conditions. Eric A

P&J App unnecessary changes

pluto1873 on

United Kingdom

I recently installed the P&J app which made reading the daily paper much easier. On 30th March they have apparently made changes the app, which were presumably well-intended improvements, but actually make reading the e-paper much more difficult. Previously a double tap would have opened each article in a reading pane, now you have to scroll through and zoom in to read each article individually. Editor please note the old adage ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. Hope the previous version of the app will be restored soon.
