Description

Created with the NHS and the UK's Department of Health, The Walk helps you walk more, every single day. When you’re playing The Walk, every step counts.
A bomb explodes in Inverness station, and you’re given a package that could save the world. To stay alive, you’ll need to walk the length of the UK. The Walk is more than just a great pedometer/step counter — it's a way to turn walking into a journey, a challenge, and a rip-roaring adventure.
Made by Six to Start and Naomi Alderman, creators of the world’s most popular running game with over 5 million players, Zombies, Run!
ENGADGET - “Simple, fun, effective.”
JOYSTIQ - "Spices up your step-tracking with some danger and intrigue.”
BBC NEWS - “Encourages users to walk 10,000 steps-a-day to help improve their health”
LIFEHACKER - “You're motivated to actually get up and move around so you can progress further into the story, and it works really well.”

MOTIVATING GAMEPLAY
Get rewarded for walking more by collecting clues, scanning for information, and unlocking achievements.

Subscriptions are $5.99 USD/month or $34.99 USD/year. Subscriptions will be charged to your iTunes account after your confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. You can go to your iTunes Account Settings to manage your subscription and turn off auto-renew. Cancellation of the current active subscription period is not allowed.
- Requires iOS 10.3
- This app integrates with the Health app via Healthkit to read and track your steps and movement data to register your progress in the game
- Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. The Walk uses your phone’s accelerometer to measure your movement, and primarily uses wifi and cell towers to track location. The Walk is designed to use GPS sparingly and should have little to no impact on your battery.

The Walk Reviews

Not practical at all

Chickaros on

Ireland

I love Zombies, Run so I was excited to see they made this. The story seems really nice and intriguing but the main negative completely ruins the game for me: you have to stare at your phone at all times. Who thought that would be a good idea for a walking/fitness app? I only did the first epizode and missed all items and the fork in the path because I thought the game would tell me some action can be taken. I only took it out of my pocket when passing the checkpoints to hear the story, which btw doesn't play automatically like ZR. Why? And there's no watch sync. Why? I'm actually sad this is such a mess, I would have liked it more than ZB otherwise 😔

Lame storyline

Ninka md on

Ireland

I was hoping to find an app that would be enjoyable and motivating and thought if I spend money on a well advertised app that would be a sure thing. However as aggressive as life can be all the bad news on TV this app starts aggressive with bombs and plots that give stress not motivation. Hugely disappointed .

Great premise. More needed on execution

Áine on

I purchased this's as I adore run with zombies. This is another beast altogether and while the premise is good the app itself is buggy and prone to doubt strange things. For example moving into an other episode (or back), not registering touches, crashing and generally being slow. One of the best zombie run feature is the way audio cuts in through your music. That doesn't happen here so you miss audio segments unless you have your device under your nose while you exercise.

Promising story

However the app is extremely slow, you swipe and wait at least ten seconds for something to actually happen.

Great stuff

Mabbbs on

Great incentive to stay active during the day and great for walking the dog! The story is captivating and the interactive aspect collecting items is good. It tells you how long in time you have walked, I'd love if it also told you in distance.

Once again amazing

Zombies, run changed my life. One day after using the walk I can say its going to do the same.

Bad interface and dishonest

longtimeuser192501 on

United States

This app has a bad interface, it’s annoying to get the episodes to play all together without stopping every minute or two. Plus it is advertised as free but then there’s a paywall a few episodes in. Sad I wasted time with it.

Challenges reset before done

WealthyRose on

United States

I like this app for the main episodes but every time I try to do a challenge I get partway through and then the app resets my progress and I have to start over. This is extremely disheartening. For example, today I got more than an hour through a 92-minute challenge when it reset. The only way I’ve completed any challenges is by keeping my phone unlocked with the app open for the entirety of a challenge, which is ridiculous when it’s over an hour and a half long. Considering that I’m paying for this app, I’m very bummed.

Good idea, bad app

Fspilot1971 on

United States

Great idea and fun but for the 3rd time I’ve been trying to complete the third episode and it just resets when you’re about 80% done.

Not working

Gavins_bat_girl on

United States

I’ve been at the exact same place for the last three days. Probably going to delete it since it no longer works. Sad :/
