Thronebreaker is a single-player campaign for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. Choice-driven, and cast with rich, multi-dimensional characters, it once again thrusts gamers into the monster-infested world of The Witcher.
Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms - Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

STILL NO GWENT REWARDS

Kahbdjbwoshxbfbd on

I’ve googled over and over trying to find out why the rewards won’t transfer to my gwent account.. I’ve clicked multiplayer and linked through Facebook, the App Store, and the game login but nothing ever shows up. I don’t think I’ve read of anyone who successfully got the rewards to transfer? With such a big incentive that has obviously had difficulties for quite some time, why has it not even been addressed? As far as the game, other than hoping for a wider variety of core deck mechanics and potential cards which is made is compensated by the presence of the story, I can’t really complain. Game gets a 3.7/5… but not addressing the transfer of gwent rewards is a big deal.

Won’t start

While downloading data on 1st launch I get the error: “connection invalidated to the unzip service”. Then it restarts the downloading.

Criminally Underrated

People should be preaching the word of this game barefoot. Seriously. This just hit all the right spots for me. Queen Meve is such a compelling and interesting character, so is the rest of the cast. The soundtrack, story and atmosphere is incredible. I also happen to love Gwent. One word of warning to people though: Most of the companions you meet can decide to leave you if you do something they don’t like, and often in ways you can’t really can’t predict. In fact, in one particular instance you’re forced to pick between two companions unless you ignore that optional instance. I would advise getting a list online of these instances that can result in losing followers, but ONLY those choices. A big part of the game revolves around constantly choosing between the lesser of two evils, but if you have a list of every choice it can become all too easy to just sit there and make every choice based on a spreadsheet. So yeah, just be warned. Other than that, a criminally underrated experience that deserves so much more attention. A full Witcher game using these characters and plots would be a godsend.

Great game, terrible publisher

Bought this game when it first came out as a paid app. However, I have to pay for it again since they release a new, free version of the game (this app). The old version was delisted from the store and won’t be receiving any future updates. At least give previous owners a restore purchase option.

Incredible Story

Truly one of the best written games I have ever played. I’ve completed the game at least ten times now and keep coming back for more. The characters are complex and engaging and will stay with you long after you finish the game, and some of the decisions you face will have you wondering for hours if you made the right choice - in the best way! Truly masterful storytelling, highly recommended for fans of The Witcher and newcomers to the world alike.

Not very good.

Thought I would at least try the first few free hours, but didn’t even make it through those. The card game attack is not interesting to me at all.

Already purchased

I own this and now gog is telling me to buy it again. I’ve followed up with Apple support. Following a re grant of purchase the app still doesn’t work. Given the lack of developer response here I will be contacting cdpr directly for resolution.

Game is broken

2nd battle without training wheels me I’m literally up 80 points and it’s automatic defeat every time when I get to 1 card, makes no sense, happened multiple times, this product has been abandoned

Gwent was fun, this is not

TheGreyBlock on

The game is basically a series of puzzle Gwent matches. That seems like a fun idea, but the puzzles feel like they’re designed to require a very specific set of actions and cards to win, so the match is less about clever strategy and more about frustrating trail-and-error until you find the exact series of actions required to win. To make things worse, each match starts with random card draws, so if you don’t have the cards you need you can lose before you even begin. But the final straw is that your AI opponent seems to have a massive advantage over you in every match, like you’re a beginner playing against a pro, so you never just lose, you’re crushed in defeat every time in a way that makes the game feel impossible and hopeless. Gwent is a great multiplayer card game, but unfortunately this single player spin-off just feels wildly unbalanced.
