I have been a member of the XPAT community for more than a year I’m sure. I have enjoyed the positive dialogue between people who are already living abroad, and those people who are aspiring to live abroad. The conversations are always respectful and helpful. It’s a great space ❤️

I enjoy being a part of this community even though I don't come to it a lot ( working on it), I love the info, the podcast interviews, etc! Huge shoutout to Shar for making this happen

Great app! Thank you Shar Wynter, you really outdid yourself!! Building community at home while we’re working towards leaving the states as well as after with a community of folks doing the same, folks who understand the stressors of uprooting everything for peace, safety, and basic respect of humanity had made the process so much easier.

I am so grateful for this app, which allows folks (especially of color) to connect from around the World! This app is ESPECIALLY handy when planning a trip OR move abroad! You can actually build connections in your destination B4 you embark on your journey. So thankful for the app creator!! She’s absolutely brilliant!!

I was muted after pointing out that a white man was giving race-related “advice” on the app based on his “research”. He was highlighting racism abroad in a country he had never been to, folks. Peak cringe, I know! I was currently in that country and found his advice to be out of pocket and expressed this. I see now that I was a bit of a fool thinking the app was a safe space for Black women. I naively brought this to the attention of the creator’s account. Shar the creator had previously reached out to me for a spotlight feature which could have been cute. When I flagged that this white man was interacting on posts not based on his lived experience (as a white man dealing with/witnessing anti-Black racism), I was muted. Or rather, when I made a post addressed to Black people only, I was muted. As a woman I think it is important to have safe spaces to communicate within our community but such a place has yet to be created. This white man remains on the app, probably giving race-related advice he knows nothing about, but such is life. I must say that I enjoyed the app before I flagged the presence of white men unironically weighing in on racism abroad.

This app is excellent for aspiring expats and it allows interaction with feet on the ground expats. Thanks to the creator of this fabulous app!!!!

The structure, ease of use, and organisation of this app and community are a dream! As the owner of a large expat Facebook Group, I’ve always envisioned what an app would look like. No need for that now because XPAT is here! Wow.

1,000% recommended. This app is one of a kind! I’ve been traveling for over a decade and with all the technological advances that have percolated on our radars, including those that claim to support diversity and community, an app like this one has never been available to connect, encourage, educate, support, and share stories amongst black expats. Thank you for creating this app! My experience on the app has been great as well.

Like don’t wait, just download! You will love this app! There is a wealth of information about the global black community. It is a safe place for all black people throughout the diaspora. Like I recommend any and everyone to use this app! It’s amazing!!!
