HOW TO PLAY TICKET TO RIDE:
Players are dealt a number of tickets and must pick a certain number to keep (depending on the map).
Players are also dealt four train cards of various colours. This number can also vary depending on the map you’re playing on, but don’t worry – the AI takes care of this!
Each turn, players can draw two train cards from the face-up pile, draw two train cards from the face-down pile, draw another ticket to complete, or use their train cards to claim a route! A claimed route is shown by placing train pieces along the route.
When a player has three or fewer train pieces left, the last round starts. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game is the winner!

Disappointing in every way.

Pretty good but NO notifications

Super.Kirby on

United States

No notifications means I have to open the app all the time to see when it’s my turn which is really annoying. My cousin and I play on our own terms (unlimited time frame) so it would really help Otherwise this is way better than the old app.

Online play needs improvement

Birbsbirbs on

United States

Have had this app for a while, and have really appreciated the changes the developers made. Area for improvement: Would like to comment that I think I’m getting stuck playing AI if someone leaves an online game and it’s horrible... I think this encourages people to leave a game if they believe they are going to lose so then I’m stuck playing AI just to finish the game. People want to climb the leaderboard so if they know they are going to lose points, they just leave and start another . There needs to be a way to discourage that.

Fun, but kills battery fast

I can’t believe how quickly my battery dies when playing this game.

Still Terrible

RevOscar on

Hard to read game maps. Developer will send you a fancy paragraph about how they’re working hard to make this game playable. They’ve turned one of the best games in decades into a farce of an app. Don’t waste your time or money.

Game literally does not work

plbryry on

United States

Game is full of bugs and does not work. DO NOT PURCHASE! Update: some Bugs have been fixed however there are too many animations and board is hard to see trains/lines. Old game was perfect and they completely ruined it with this new app, my wife and I talk all the time how we would play for hours on the old app and can’t get through one game with this one. Its a board game not some intricate game that needs animations and intricate, complicated, confusing board. Just have a game people can play and have fun with ☹️

Friends ranking?

jmurts82 on

United States

My family loves this game. We were sad when the old one went away, but this app is pretty promising as a replacement. I have two requests that might help. 1) Even with the colors of the board switched back to the simplified map, it can be tricky to see which routes have been taken. It would be great if that could be cleaned up a bit to make it more clear. 2) We play online frequently as friends, but it doesn't give us ranking. I realize people could inflate their scores or something, but we would love to be able to gain ranking against our friends so we can rub it in that we have had better games than them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Would love for this to be updated.

Good job addressing all the issues

Nurse Pudge on

United States

As a fan of the old game, I had previously submitted a very negative review when this game first came out. However, they have made a huge number of improvements that have made this game a lot closer to the original, and much more fun to play than when this version first came out. The only issue I have had is where the USA map suddenly enlarges to the edges of the screen (where both sides of the country can’t be seen at the same time) and I can’t figure out any way to get it to return to the normal, default view. I’d also like the option to “ignore” obnoxious players, although there seem to be far fewer of those than there were in the old game, and a better system for rankings that doesn’t reset after a fixed time period. Fix these issues and I’ll happily give this game 5 stars!

Incredibly bad

RutRoRob on

United States

This is my 4th review. They edited one and no one saw the bad update. Anyway new update came out today. Didn’t fix crashes only made them worse. Now it’s a 50-50 shot the game even loads on the iPad. They will tell you to contact via email. I did 2 weeks ago and got nothing. Notice on all the reviews NO ONE says customer service reached out to me. That right there lets you know the truth about things. It’s a shame they have the rights to this classic. So convoluted with shadows, and highlights, etc. etc you simply can’t load it up and play. I asked for a refund of expansion 1910. They ignored that as well. It crashes over and over and over and over. lol it’s so bad. I paid for a game developers and yet to receive a playable one.

Awful Color Scheme - Difficult to look at

AppDev11 on

United States

Update: Added one star for effort. The maps’ color and contrast are marginally improved, but still very difficult to look at for any length of time. Oddly, this goes for the simplified mode as well, which while it declutters things in some ways, still suffers from color and contrast issues of its own. The most frustrating thing about this for me is that when picking destination cards it is a huge turn off of an experience trying to determine visually on the map 1. where the start and end cities are for each card, and 2. which cards connect with or overlap other cards for building strategy (a direct result of #1). I should note that I have excellent vision, no color blindness, and no need for corrective lens of any kind. This game could be great if they just get a proper color and contrast design consultant in and actually listen to what they say and implement significant UX improvements. _____________ I want to like this version of the game. It does seem to have potential (and for that reason I purchase the early bird everything package as a pledge of support), however the single biggest things that make it unplayable to me currently are: 1. Color scheme is VERY difficult to look at it’s like listening to a stereo system that has way too much treble, you might be able to enjoy a couple songs but then listening fatigue rapidly sets in, 2. The animations are far too lengthy and prevent the rapid game play experience many of us have expressed craving (it should be possible to play a skilled human opponent in about 10-15 minutes tops, otherwise I’ll just settle into the original physical board game with my partner instead, 3. The multiplayer system feels like a grab of private data and the system doesn’t even work well and is not resilient in the face of disruptions where the bugs make it impossible to resume. Please focus on these issues, in that order. The first two feel like relatively straight forward low hanging fruit and the third is simply critical. Looking forward to seeing the potential realized and the long time fans and monetary contributors’ needs respected. Thank you and good luck.
