Timegrapher X analyzes the ticking sound of a mechanical watch to measure its accuracy rate, beat error, and amplitude. The app is specifically optimized to work with the Apple EarPods' headset microphone. Ideally, the headset microphone and the watch crown should be slightly pressed together, as this greatly improves the level of detail and diagram quality. The better the contact, the stronger the signal.

Timegrapher X consists of two separate modules (tabs):
The "INSTANT" module shows how the watch is behaving in the short term, or "right now". It is very similar to a traditional timegrapher device, with the added benefits of a real-time waveform display and a high-detail diagram display.
The "LONG TEST" module is a graphical data logger, which helps you observe the long-term behavior of a watch. Various chart indicators are available, such as average rate, moving rate history, rate drift over time, and more. Long-term measurements for up to 12 hours can be conducted for in-depth analysis of the watch being tested.
Timegrapher X Pro (in-app upgrade) provides these additional features:
• Save and share branded, printable PDF reports for each measurement
• Export raw measurement data as a .csv file for spreadsheet analysis
• Conduct long-term measurements for up to 120 hours

I am quite impressed with this app so far. In a quiet room I was able to get some solid data and improve the accuracy of my Seiko from -7s/d to +3s/d. I’d be really interested to compare date from a standalone time grapher, but alas I do not have access. I also really appreciate that this developer collects zero data, and has one of the best privacy policy’s I’ve ever read. A breath of fresh air
Does not work with iOS 18.1
$30 for a useless app. Stopped work completely after iOS 18.1 update. Never worked with a wired headset in any iOS. Inaccurate.
Best of all the watch timers for regulation
I’ve tried most of the common watch timers for the iPhone and this one is by far the best. If you want a real tool to do watch regulation, this is the one to get. (P.S. I never write iPhone app reviews.)
Great app
Works exactly as it is described and is extremely accurate. Was easily able to regulate an ETA 2892 (Omega Seamaster 300) quickly and reliably.
Fantastic
Extremely good product. Been running it on my iPad with the watch and microphone in a drawer to reduce noise. Just wished it would stretch on the iPad display.
Great Tool
I have stopped using my other timegrapher completely. This does everything I need to adjust and regulate my watches. I use it with the Apple Earbuds and ot works great.
Fantastic
Finally a time graph that works!!! I couldn’t be more pleased with this app. Worth every penny. I’ve been a watchmaker for 35 years and this might be the handiest tool to come along in decades.
Worth it!
Well worth the cost. I was immediately able to regulate an NH36 movement (Seiko) that I got in a watch from AliExpress. When received the watch was measured at running +46 seconds a day, lol. It’s now running +-5 seconds a day.
Also, the developer has posted a very good video on YouTube on how to use the app.
Updated review
I was originally annoyed at the pricing model and still believe the developer should be more clear. The Pro version is $60.
But that’s where the annoyance stops. This app is rock solid and extremely accurate. A quiet room is all that’s required… and it can even tolerate a little background noise.
Note to Developer: although the app still runs flawlessly, it’d be great to feel a little love from time to time to let us know you’re still around :)
Easy and It Works
I just got a used older automatic watch to learn how to work on watches as a hobby. As is, it was running 5 minutes ahead every day. I needed something to adjust it, but didn’t want to spend the $200 or so for the standalone equipment, or even $50’ish for a Chinese knockoff. After watching some “how-to’s” on You Tube, I got this app and got my unopened and almost forgotten Apple earbuds out of the iPhone box. The app picked up a weak signal right away, and had a strong signal after I got the microphone into a good position. It automatically determined my watch settings. As I worked, the graph display immediately told me if I went the wrong way or too far. In 5 or 10 minutes I got the errors down to below 5 seconds a day, mind you, a beginner working on such a small scale for the first time, with the final adjustments essentially too small for me to see. A day later the watch is still running within a few seconds of my iPhone clock. Now I can buy a few more watches to fix up, wear, and keep adjusted, in no small part because of the low cost of this app. Very, very cool… and fun too… Thank you for this app.
