Been using Timely on and off for about eight years now, trying out other apps in between. But lately, I fully recommitted to using Timely. Timely transcends as more than an app—it's a testament to my productivity. Its keeping me on track with work and side gigs like no other tool. I feel balanced in my work. AI on Mac OS does all the data gathering and I just focus on getting things done. Seeing my progress boosts my motivation and by day's end, I know exactly how productive I was and gives me accurate work time easily. So, I'm pretty hooked on Timely, and that’s my shout-out.
I don’t ever write reviews but Timely needs this one. I don’t believe the negative comments are honest, because this app does something I haven’t found elsewhere. I’m a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, so I need a timekeeping app that’s better than Time by Quickbooks (formerly known as Tsheets). I’m a pro with that app and also paid to sell it. But Time lacks one very important feature that my clients need, so I auditioned 14 different timekeeping apps in the last 2 months, and found that none were able do exactly what I need except THIS one. Let me try to describe how powerful this integration is. It’s great to have an app to keep time and then send entries to QBO for invoicing. Lots of apps do that. It’s also wonderful to have a time app that integrates with your Apple or Google calendar to create billable time. Again, not that special. But, seriously, try to find a single timekeeping app that does both sides of that flow. To draw from my calendar, give me an entry to assign to a client/project/task, allow approval, then instantly sync to QBO as a ready-to-send invoice. Oh wait, the two way sync back that tells Timely not to double-bill my client? I dare you to find an app that smart. I’ve literally used this one for less than 24 hours and I can promise: it’s much smarter than most. Time by Quickbooks is free to me as a reseller, but I can give that up and gladly pay for this functionality. Case study: I can get an email from a client and send it to my Google calendar as an event that I’ll schedule time to address (I use Airmail [email client] and Informant [calendar client] because they have these functions). I can turn this event into billable time (via Timely) to create an invoice in QBO, add whatever detail i need for my financial reporting requirements, and then bill my client. Icing on top: QBO sends the message back to Timely that the time has been invoiced. It’s the smoothest flow I’ve ever seen. Communicate, schedule and creare invoices. <— the more time you spend on that flow, the less you have for billable work.
Timely reminds me precisely how I spent my time allowing me too accurately bill clients as well as keep track of how much time personal projects are getting my attention, even family time. It makes working as a freelance digital nomad much, MUCH easier to keep track of. It integrates with Harvest. If you were working as a US citizen then however much it costs is deductible from your business operational costs. Nothing is free, really. Get over it. This is a great app!
Greedy. Non transparent. No way I ever pay that
I have been using the service for a few years now. The desktop version I would give a 3 to 4 stars due to The memory portion where it is able to track what hours you’re working and what program although in most programs it cannot track what file you had open so you have to go by memory but it makes it easier at the end of the day to track what you worked on then manually entering everything in. The desktop version is very limited in what you can track for data on projects compared to other time tracking software. The iPhone app is OK although several features that you would think would be standard or not included such as a widget to quickly enter time. The iPad app though is very faulty and limited and not worth downloading. It is stuck on having the week start on Monday and there’s no way to correct that and you can only see it and week view on the iPad. Which means it will show different stats that counteract the stats on the desktop and the iPad. For how expensive the service is you would expect better quality applications and more data ability. For instance and none of the apps can you track a project that has a fixed about what the final hourly rate ended up being. Instead you have to pull out of Calculator. These are standard features that should be in there,But the biggest issue is the calendar view on the iPad and screw you up if you’re not expecting to it.
My, saw the price elsewhere. $6/month. On the edge for a single purpose app but...looks like another app that doesn’t need to rent to do little more than collect what is essentially text data. I want to see developers that can stop trying to be millionaires or billionaires by renting software. Sell software then offer upgrades we can buy if we want or need new features. See Agenda’s cash model. Offer a free level. Sell a premium. Period. For a reasonable price. You charge mire than ClickUp, which does far more. Worse, it is hard to know looking on their website what the differences are between Solo & Essential. Is the free trial only good fir essential, so they get you hooked and frustrated?
Great app idea, terrible customer service and they have sneaky extra steps to putting your subscription payment on hold / canceling. Cost me many months of not using the service. Buyer beware.
Nifty app and service. However, the subscription price is down right offensive. To put into perspective, premium productivity software subscription services (e.g., office 365, ms exchange, adobe creative cloud, etc.) cost a fraction of this, and those are need-to-have tools to get the job done (unlike Timely).
Be wary of any simple, non-social app that must get your info to work. Thanks but No thanks.
