This seems like it will be a fun puzzle/logic/programming game but the lack of keyboard is really frustrating. I would like to see the game avoid using the on-screen keyboard, but if a physical keyboard is present allow it’s use.
Just discovered this gem!
I have been tinkering around with programming in various languages for years and stumbled upon this game while searching for a factory sim for the ipad(something similar to factorial). Anyway, I have been up most of the night working through the puzzles and really enjoying what I have encountered so far. I would definitely give it a solid 4 stars. For a fifth star the devs would have to add keyboard support. With so many options for keyboards for tablets these days as well as the amazing keyboard for the iPad Pro, having to use only the on screen keyboard seems a little clunky. Maybe I am just being picky tho, great game otherwise!
Magic Keyboard not compatible
I love the game but on iPad it doesn't translate to touch well and the magic Keyboard doesn't work with it
-2 Stars for NO KEYBOARD SUPPORT
I love this game. I’d honestly give it five stars easy except for the omission of hardware keyboard support. One of the main reasons I have an iPad-Pro is because of the keyboard. As a software developer myself, with experience in iOS, I know for certain that this is some seriously low hanging fruit. Please, add the keyboard support. Although, I see its been over two years now of people begging for it... so, I don’t think anyone is listening
I hope the developer will consider some of their other games for mobile/iOS. It would be great to see Shenzhen I/O in this format (as long as they include keyboard support). ExaPunks would be awesome too!
Thank you.
Who cares about the keyboard?
I bought this app to support the developer because there are simply no apps that even come close to trying to help you understand computer science. The concept is easily five stars and I hope they keep delivering.
Would love for this to fit on iPad mini
Hi, bought this years ago. I keep waiting for an update/fix but perhaps you don’t know there’s an issue. On iPad mini 2, and maybe others? The keyboard appears onscreen cutoff
Would love for it to be shrunk down to fit screen
No keyboard support
As a big fan of Zachtronics and the PC version of TIS-100, I'm disappointed there's no way to use an external keyboard to play this game.
It seems cool but can't figure it out
I wish there was a tutorial or a simple level so people that have no idea what this is can learn...
Pulling defeat from the jaws of victory
Would easily be a 5-star game, but someone decided that the OS keyboard support wasn’t good enough for them and implemented a heavily inferior solution.
Zachtronics really should be annoyed at Metaversal for taking one of the best programming games around and ruining it. I hope they don’t take this debacle as evidence their games aren’t appropriate for iOS, since the problem lies wholly in a gross implementation mistake.
First, lack of hardware keyboard support makes this effectively unplayable on an iPad Pro 12.9” with a keyboard cover. There’s no “typing stand” position with that cover, as it assumes you can use the real keys for any typing, so you’re stuck with the software keyboard flat on the table.
Even ignoring this issue, the “custom” software keyboard they decided to implement for the game isn’t very good compared to the default OS one and changes all the ergonomics while losing all the various features iOS keyboards have developed over the years (splitting, etc.)
At this point, TIS-100P seems unlikely to get a keyboard update, so rating low due to lack of support and lack of hope so that people will stay away—you can see the other reviews where people went from “woohoo” to “this blows” when they didn’t get that warning.
Hate to do so, though, because it’s the only actual zachlike on the App Store. I hope someone defies my expectations and fixes this. I really hope this won’t be the last Zachtronics title just because someone decided they knew how to do keyboard input better than every other app on the OS.
Most nerd fun I've had in a long time
It seems like it shouldn't be nearly as fun as it is. I never finish games, I'll finish this one.
