Beautiful layout, easy to navigate, my favorite app to manage my movie and tv show history. Works with Trakt. I use this daily and highly recommend it.
One of the few app that are worth subscribing to.
Loving this app so far and the developer has been very responsive and is clearly motivated to make this app even better. I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in tracking movies/TV. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the ipad app!
So far I am really liking this app and using it on a daily basis. It pulls my Trakt data which is awesome and the interface on here is beautiful. I hope updates keep coming as I’ll be a lifetime user.
This is the best movie/tv tracker on the App Store in my opinion. It’s a little pricier than some others but worth it. It has a clear interface and provides a ton of info so I don’t even have to use IMDB or JustWatch anymore. One request I have is for the search function. I wish it would provide results for partial or even misspelled searches - for example if I type “The Magic Flut” no results will appear unless I spell it correctly “The Magic Flute”. Or if I misspell it (“Thw” instead of “The”) it won’t provide any results. I think that would make searching for things a lot easier. I think it would also be nice if you could refine/filter search results, such as sorting by year, number of reviews/popularity, etc.
I have been using FilmNoir for about a year now on and off. Recently I was using two apps to track my movie and tv show progress to keep myself organized. Those apps weren’t being developed regularly and I liked keeping up with new features of FilmNoir so I decided to download and try out all the new features. FilmNoir replaces the two apps I was using into one which makes for a lot simpler tracking of all my movies and tv shows. The app is simple and intuitive to use albeit a little overwhelming at first use. I chose to pay for the lifetime subscription because I’m in it for the long haul and don’t enjoy paying monthly for an app but still like to support the development. My one gripe with using the app for a month straight is the TV tracking section. Numerous times I have seen shows disappear from my watchlists tab in the To Watch or Up To Date sections. This happens for various shows and rewatching them doesn’t seem to fix the issue. This makes it a pain to track progress for what shows are airing next and which have just aired. Shows will just disappear completely from the watchlists tab once the airtime have passed, sometime later the next day they will appear in the To Watch section where I can track the progress. If I perform a search for the show in question it allows me to track it and move on but it would be easier if the show appeared where it’s designed to be. Besides the above issues, FilmNoir is a feature rich app that anyone who tracks Movies and TV Shows would be ignorant to not download. More updates from a dedicated developer will see this app go where others have failed or lost interest and that is where FilmNoir has the chance to really shine.
Give me iPad integration or bust. Truth hurts sometimes, not trying to be a frat boy sound alike, but those kind of comments seem to get noticed & after all, We are only trying to help you guys in the end.!
Decided to support developer, and pay the one time payment to unlock all the apps features. App runs smooth and the UI, is visually appealing and modern unlike some other movie tracking apps!!, it also includes support for TV shows, which is a plus. This is by far the best tracking app that I have used, since switching from an android device. I really hope, developer continues to support app on the long run. In conclusion, this app is a must, to track all of your watching history, especially for any movie / tv show lover.
Amazing set of features, I'm still digging through and setting my preferences but I have YET to come across something I would list as a negative. I WOULD have asked for an universal iPad version but saw on Twitter that one is currently in the works so I am happy to be patient until that is ready! One BRILLIANT feature I came across already was the ability to "Hide Show Progress". I've looked for this feature in other apps in the past and its not been possible so the choice there was to either continue to mark episodes of shows you abandoned as "watched" to clear the watchlist or delete the show entirely. I'm going back through a few shows to reset the watched flags to set it right and hid the show and couldn't be happier to have this. The customized viewing and list order is very well thought out and user has some many options to set it the way we want to view our lists. Having Movies and TVs in one app instead of having to use two? Thank you! As background notes, I have been using iShow's TV and Movie apps for years but those have not been updated in over a year, dev no longer responds to emails so I feel those have come to their end and with iOS 15 around the corner wanted to find a replacement. I've done this search in the past but did the swing through a dozen apps again this morning and FilmNoir blows every other one out of the water! Since I have a long history of syncing through Trakt, that was a bit of a deal breaker to get as much back up to speed without starting over as I would with some apps. However, even apps that weren't Trakt enabled, I still didn't come across a single one that I would rather use than FilmNoir. Looking forward to the future of getting through backlog and new releases with my NEW, FAVORITE tracking app!!
