*Much* better than the official app!

b'Ting on

TL;DR: a competent iOS app for Mastodon with some genuinely nice touches — excited to see where it’s going! Tusker rights all the wrongs of the official Mastodon app: The text view for composing a new toot isn’t all kinds of broken, writing alt text let’s you see and edit what you type, as well as the entire image you’re describing (I know: shocker), and (most importantly) the timeline doesn’t jump around losing your reading position all the time — hallelujah! There are several other nice touches like collapsing long toots, the way conversation threads are displayed, etc. So: Why not 5 stars? Some polish needed: Text contrast is too harsh, especially in night mode (actual white on actual black is really crass). Replies in the timeline should have some sort of indicator that there’s more context. In-line action button icons for favourite and boost should not rely on colour to designate whether you’ve already tapped them (possible alternative: outline vs. filled background with cutout). But for a first release, this is still a really good app. Oh and: if there was a tip-jar type in app purchase, I’d HAPPILY put something in! 😇
