Description

Answer the summons of the trumpets and bear the burden of the Twilight Struggle. Set during the ideological tension of the Cold War, Twilight Struggle: Red Sea places the United States and the Soviet Union at critical odds in the Horn of Africa. Every choice you make will impact the balance of power.
"Now the trumpet summons us again" —John Fitzgerald Kennedy, First Inaugural 1961.
Twilight Struggle: Red Sea builds on the award-winning game Twilight Struggle. The year is 1974. As the Soviet Union and the United States are locked in a life-or-death struggle across the globe, the Horn of Africa suddenly takes center stage. Leadership changes spark a chain of events that upset the regional balance of power and unleash all the familiar elements of the Cold War.
Lead the global policy in this 2-player, card driven strategy game and take the role as either the United States or the Soviet Union. Engage in varying actions that are vital to regional stability such as spreading political influence, conducting military coups, or attempting favorable political realignments. It is your goal to gain allies and be the leading worldwide superpower. But be careful not to overreach, as one wrong decision can lead to DEFCON One and a game ending nuclear war!
Real World Events
Card mechanics based on the historical events of the Cold War, centered around East Africa, the Arabian Gulf, and the vital sea lanes stretching between them. New Flashpoint countries create additional tension around Coup attempts and have DEFCON impacts.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

This is a $10 game and for what? Another trash game with broken AI that cheats. I can't believe these devs already screwed up the AI in this game just like they did in the other game. But at least in the first game they gave the player the option of setting up a handicap. There is no such option here. The game obviously cheats as I've now lost count how many times I have a hand with 1's and 2's, of mostly the opposing sides cards, while the AI is throwing down cards of 3's and 4's. I've also lost count of how many times I'm only half way through the first round but I've already lost. This game is trash if they don't fix this. Don't waste your money on this game unless they put in the option for having a handicap.

At Last, A Sequel to Twilight Struggle

If you have played TwilightStruggle, all you need to do really is go over the Quickstart one-page sheet of rules changes; all the game mechanics are essentially the same, but with a few twists. Red Sea is more like a knife fight, focusing just on eastern Africa and parts of the Middle East, and it’s only two turns long. No opinion on balance yet since I’ve just started. The only concern is that with the shorter timeframe, a bad roll of the dice can have more intense consequences… but I look forward to getting deeper into this as the original TS has provided years of enjoyment. Thanks for the sequel, and for Labyrinth, and I hope we see more from GMT! Also should note that online play works perfectly, and there are plenty of opponents.
