Extremely Disappointed and Angry

I am extremely disappointed and angry with my experience using Uber Carshare. Recently, I rented a car through their service and encountered unbelievable issues. After returning the car, they accused me of causing a scratch and demanded a payment of 500 AUD. Despite following their instructions to take and upload photos during both pickup and return, clearly showing no damage, they still insisted that I was responsible. Additionally, I paid extra for the highest level of premium insurance, expecting to be fully covered and protected. Instead, I am left dealing with this unwarranted charge and the frustration of their unprofessional handling of the situation. What is even more infuriating is that after repeatedly refusing to pay this fee and expressing my strong protest, they unauthorizedly deducted from my card late at night without my consent. This unauthorized action is utterly disgraceful and has severely disrupted my normal use of my bank card, causing me significant inconvenience and distress. The handling of this situation by Uber Carshare has been extremely unprofessional. It wasted a lot of my time and energy, and has severely damaged my trust in this platform. If you want to avoid similar trouble and frustration, I strongly advise staying away from this service.

Disappointing Experience with Hidden Charges

I used Uber's car share service and had a very disappointing experience. Initially, Uber assured me that any scratches or damage would be covered by insurance. However, a small scratch occurred while the car was parked, caused by a random kid. To my surprise, Uber charged me over 800 AUD for this minor damage. The lack of transparency regarding the insurance coverage and the exorbitant charge for a tiny scratch is unacceptable. This experience has left me frustrated and dissatisfied. I expected better from a company like Uber, and I will be reconsidering my options for future car rentals.

Lost $79 for dropping late unfortunately uber app got problems I dropped it a night before i have done everything right but until morning i lost $79 Uber car share is 0 star not worth to rent

Company out to get your money with no explanation

On 7th March 2024, I borrowed a vehicle from Uber Carshare from 7.30pm - 10.30pm. During my rental period, I did not hit any objects or other vehicles. However, as I was about to complete my rental period, I noticed that a side panel of the car was loose and eventually fell off. To not risk losing the part and being lost completely, I placed it in the vehicle for safe keeping. It was evident I did not hit an object or another vehicle, since only that panel is missing and the car isn't otherwise damaged. On 20th March 2024, I received an email from Uber Carshare, stating the damages and repair cost details. On 25th March 2024, Upon reviewing the evidence, I responded/ disputed the claims. Main reasons are 1. There's photo evidence that damage was already incurred from the photo taken on 7th March 2024 4:21pm prior to my possession at 7:30pm. 2. "Quoted repair cost" should be lowered and is unfair - quote should be only be for the repairs/ replacement of the part. Quote included "Removal and replacement of front door mould & drill, centre pillar mould, and rear door mould & drill" AND "external car wash". Which goes beyond the scope of re-installing the missing panel. I explained that “I am willing to consider sharing a fair and reasonable proportion of the cost of the repair. However, I should not have to bear the whole cost of the repair. I would also suggest investigating this further with the previous Borrowers prior to my possession of the vehicle.” 29th March 2024, Julie from Uber Carshare responded "We'll review this further and we'll get back to you on the update" (as attached). 23rd May 2024, Julie from Uber Carshare emailed “We have not heard back from you.” and charged my card. We have added the $1,356.80 payment to your account. But there was an error saying when we tried to charge your card. Please make sure there are enough funds available in the account as soon as possible.” For TWO MONTHS, the "update" was never brought to my attention over the duration of the dispute. To simply deduct the money from my card is unfair and unreasonable. I have clearly articulated my dispute for this claim, yet Uber Carshare proceeded to make an unauthorized payment to my card with no explanation. I will be escalating this to ACCC and Fair Trading NSW, but am aware that I might not get results as with other reviewers.

Bring back Skip Dates for searches

Why did you remove a feature in the latest app update? Please bring back the ability to skip & clear dates when running a search for a vehicle. Without the ability to skip dates, I can’t see when the cars I’ve previously rented are next available, unless they happen to be free on the specific dates I’m searching.

The app has become buggy and service unreliable. Chat takes forever if there is an issue and ive experienced cars not being available. For a service that rents by the hour they have no comprehension of time being of the essence. Very poor support but then again, its uber so i should lower my expectations huh
