Description

This app contains a national calendar of all 2024 federal and state holidays for the United States. These dates may be modified as official changes are announced, so please check back regularly for updates.
Federal holidays in the United States are public holidays that have been recognized by the federal government, and are applicable to federal employees. State holidays are public holidays recognized by states – and often (though not always) include the same holidays recognized at the federal level.
With the exception of Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, all federal holidays are observed on a Monday. This is in accordance with the Uniform Monday Holiday Act which is intended to move holidays to a Monday whenever possible in order to allow federal employees to have a three-day weekend.
States are not required to observe federal holidays. Not only are states allowed to opt out of observation of these holidays, but states are also given the opportunity to declare state holidays if they so choose.
Although there are no federally-mandated holidays currently observed in the United States, most states choose to observe federal holidays. Some states observe versions of holidays that are related to the federally recognized holidays without being identical.

United States Holidays 2024 Reviews

Has potential needs a little work

BobcatBobbie on

This has great potential, the layout is simple and minimal which is nice, however the calendar is not very accurate. It’s missing a few holidays, like St Patrick’s Day and Juneteenth to name a few. If they can get this fixed I think this would be a good app. Another annoyance is the constant ad pop ups. It’s literally every second while on the app. Very annoying.

Inaccurate; intrusive ads

Nathan68521 on

United States

Multiple issues with listed holidays: Presidents’ Day is listed as a state holiday (it’s Federal), Christmas is observed as a holiday on Monday (not Sunday), and Juneteenth (which became an official Federal holiday as of last year) isn’t listed at all. Correct dates can be found at opm.gov. High-volume ads play when you attempt to view details for any given month.

Nice Calendar Update Needed

This is for the developers of the app: Thank you for a nice app and that it is free; an update is now needed on December 13, 2020 President Trump has made Christmas Eve a Federal Holiday. Thank you so much and have a merry Christmas. Let's celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the reason for the season, Hallelujah!
