Navigate the unprecedented global wave of urbanization with Urban World. Compare GDP, population and household income for more than 2,600 cities worldwide. Track the earth’s shifting economic center of gravity from 1 CE to 2025. Discover surprising facts and share them via Facebook or Twitter.
The growth of cities in emerging markets is driving the most significant economic transformation in history. Urban World offers a sense of how economic power will move as this unprecedented urban expansion takes place.
By 2025, the annual consumption of citizens in these emerging markets will reach $30 trillion and the GDP of these markets will exceed that of developed countries. China’s economy is changing at ten times the speed of the British Industrial Revolution—which was itself a turning point in the history of the world—and at 100 times the scale.
Comprehending the sheer scale and sweeping nature of this urban transformation is difficult. Urban World can help, by presenting an interactive economic and demographic map of the evolving urban landscape.
• Spin the globe, and pinch to zoom in on individual countries and cities and compare their population, household incomes, or GDP side-by-side.
• Use the search function to move quickly to a specific city, country, or region.
• Explore GDP from 1 CE to 2025 and view the shift in the world’s economic center of gravity over that same time period.
Urban World is based on more than five years of research by the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), the business and economics research arm of McKinsey, the global management consultancy.

Is Urban World legit?
🤔 The Urban World app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
As someone who is into this kind of topic. It has an comprehensive amount of urban areas and I feel like an update can be made to improve it more. I kind of wish more popular but smaller global level cities could be added. (Port Louis and Saint-Denis in the African islands comes to mind) Neighboring but still major twin style cities be acknowledged (Saint Paul, Kobe, Foshan, Fort Worth, San Bernardino, St. Petersburg [Florida] and Norfolk to name a few) along with the German metropolitan areas to be named after the cities like the rest. But still a good dig regardless of what I mostly notice.
Good app, needs update
Very useful app that needs an update and would be made stronger by giving more user control — say to disaggregate Africa and the Middle East or to create baskets of countries — North Africa, South East Asia, the Indian sub-continent, BRICS, MINTS, etc.

Very nice
This application works fine with no problems. I would like to see more data comparisons and more information though. This is a very interesting piece of software.
Fascinating
Good-looking and well-made. Really draws you in to learn more about all sorts of cities. Reminds me of playing with a spinning globe as a kid!
Crashes every time when launching
Crashes every time when launching. Circle completes and app immediately crashes.
Will not launch
I have tried and tried to launch this App. As soon as the "loading" circle completes itself, the App quits. I am running the required operating system on my iPad. Very disappointing.
