Description

V1connection, the app. Links the new Valentine One Generation 2 detector directly to your iOS device. It also links the now-superseded Valentine One w/ESP detector through an optional Bluetooth module called V1connection LE. See the Threat Picture, a breakthrough in analyzing radar threats. Screen out false alarms with our game-changing Arrow-in-the-Box concept. Every signal on every band gets its own directional arrow and frequency readout. Flashing arrow points to the Priority Alert. The app brings Dark Mode, Muting, and new programming options. Lets you relocate V1’s front-panel warning to an eyes-only location. New: eSAVVY lets you set a speed below which all new warnings will be muted. Downloads and upgrades are free.
NEW FEATURE—DOWNLOADABLE PERFORMANCE UPGRADES FOR V1 GEN2
V1 Gen2 firmware upgrades are downloadable only through this app; downloadable upgrades are incompatible with superseded V1 models.
YOU’LL SEE THE THREAT PICTURE
See our exclusive Radar Locator with its illuminated arrows pointing toward each threat as the Bogey Counter tracks multiple threats. Also shows you a revolutionary new way of analyzing radar threats.

ARROW IN THE BOX
Radar makers, under penalty of law, must certify to the FCC the frequencies used by the equipment they sell. We constantly monitor those certifications so we know exactly where real radar operates on each band. V1 scans the entire width of all radar bands but to draw your attention to the Active Radar Zones, we outline them with a yellow Box. To be in compliance with federal regulations, all radars (except photo) must operate “in the Box.” When you see an arrow outside the Box, that’s probably a false alarm; when it’s in the Box, take it seriously.
ADVANCED SITUATION AWARENESS
The Threat Picture (aka Picture Screen) displays a separate arrow for every threat within range, pointing ahead, beside or behind, according to its direction from your car. The arrows grow larger as the signal strength increases. Your visual scan of the Threat Picture lets you see which arrows are in the Box, and spot critical trends—which alerts are maturing into threats and which are fading in concern.
SITUATION AWARENESS FOUR WAYS
Choose among four information screens at any time. The Quad Screen emphasizes location with up to four separate arrow sets, one for each enabled radar band, or for laser if fewer bands are active. The V1 Screen reproduces V1’s front-panel warnings including signal strength, Bogey Counter and Radar Locator plus frequency of the Priority Alert. Or you can choose the (Threat) Picture Screen or the Threat List, which shows a list of all signals within range, each with an accompanying arrow to show direction.
BEYOND SITUATION AWARENESS
Think of the app as the Master Controller for your V1 system. You can revise programming, adjust SAVVY settings, change muting, activate dark mode, save custom programming profiles for different trips, and more, all from your handheld. DEMO MODE IS AUTOMATIC.
The audible warnings of your V1 Gen2 and V1 can now be transmitted through your phone to your car's sound system, or to speakers in your helmet if you are a motorcyclist. Any other hook-up that allows you to hear your phone can also bring V1's warnings directly to your ear.
NEW PROGRAMMING OPTIONS
Radar coverage can now be specially tailored to the unique radar bands used outside the U.S. Advanced users may want to modify the sweeps covering frequencies used here in the U.S. according to unique local conditions. The Profiles screen shows a menu of the variables you can modify. For example, you can select "Background Notifications" so that you can run other apps but receive instant notification from V1 whenever a new threat appears.
THE APP IS FREE
Just download this free app. The Demo Mode plays automatically, giving you a look at all four warning screens playing through preloaded on-road scenarios. For further functions with V1 w/ESP you’ll need to purchase V1connection LE.

V1connection Reviews

Suggestion

The app is fine and allows the user to not have to interact with the actual V1 device, but obviously Car Play compatibility would be ideal. I don’t believe that is a possibility as of now with Apple’s strict requirements, but hopefully soon. That being said, I would appreciate a setting in the app that allows the user to mute the V1 device by tapping on main part of the screen (rather than the speaker icon). It is way too distracting to keep clicking on such a small area of the screen. Quickly tapping a large portion of the phone screen would be more logical to me.

Still the best radar detector

I didn't buy V1 for the app, but the app works and does everything V1 says it does. * Many of these reviews are 5+ years old even 10 years in some cases.

Pointless without CarPlay

Ti317 on

United States

This app has so much potential but is pretty much useless without the ability mirror the screen unto your car’s screen. There is no necessity to have have your phone in a holder, clustering up your dash and distracting from the task of driving. It really can’t be that hard to make it CarPlay compatible and have alerts show up on screen.

Somewhat useful but it crashes and burns your battery

Token-Nick on

United States

It is pretty pathetic when V1/2 can’t write an app that is reliable, does not burn your phone or battery. Many 3rd party apps for the detector are magnitudes better. The truth is that Valentine has been sleeping in their laurels for decades now. This is the last time I spend time and money with their products.

Update it works better with Gen 2 but….

Ti317 on

United States

It is sad that the makers of the best radar Detector I have ever used, can’t update their app as well. Why can’t the app be CarPlay compatible? The battery drain is not so significant now that many cars have wireless charge pads but the need to take your eyes of the road to use the app properly makes it dangerous to use. We only use the app when someone is able to operate it from the passenger seat. Enable CarPlay Mike! I’m sure it can be done

Poor implementation for motorcycles

Freeridedeattle on

United States

Audio alert over BT is unreliable at best due to the app having to run at the same time. Volume is not loud enough to matter either, when it does work. Customer service at Valentine doesn’t seem to care and think they walk on air. The detector falses way more than a Redline 360c or a Uniden R3. I don’t get the cult following of Valentine at all.

Reconnect in a pain

Vatolococholo on

United States

This app is years behind the Escort app. Reconnecting the app is a pain in the butt because it goes into the demo mode which should have an option to disable that.

Useful for firmware but needs app updates

BSzen27 on

United States

The new over-the-air firmware updates are an excellent feature addition, but why so long without updates? Every new iPhone at least needs a new tweak to ensure the display is not spilling outside the screen, which it is now unfortunately. $500+ for a detector should certainly mean a somewhat frequently updated app. At least fix the common bugs.

Useless except for upgrading software

Wastintime on

United States

It’s an app without purpose… you have a V1, so why do you need to see it on your phone? It works horribly when using CarPlay. If there’s a radar signal it routes the audio back to your phone! But the V1 is already making noise. It’s just pointless. If it had any gps based tracking of common threats or nuisance alarms… or anything useful beyond updating the V1 firmware/software… maybe it would be worth using.

Disfunctional

I turned off the K and X band in the app. Sent to my unit. Didn’t actually do it.
