How does the Vegan Diet work?

While vegetarians eliminate meat, fish, and poultry, vegans take it a step further, excluding all animal products—even dairy and eggs. (Vegans are often animal rights activists who don’t believe in using animal products for any purpose.) So say goodbye to refried beans with lard, margarine made with whey, and anything with gelatin, which comes from animal bones and hooves, too. Fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, tofu, soy, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes will be your staples.

Will you lose weight?

Likely. Research shows vegans tend to eat fewer calories, weigh less, and have a lower body mass index (a measure of body fat) than their meat-eating counterparts. If you’re doing it right—i.e., eating lots of fruits, veggies, and whole grains—you’ll likely feel full on fewer calories than you’re allowed each day. With that “calorie deficit” and a little physical activity, you’re bound to shed pounds. How quickly and whether you keep them off is up to you.

It’s says vegan but the very first recipe I looked at had eggs. So much for being vegan. Deleted it. Too many other apps that are vegan.

The app itself is very nice. Everything is organized and it even tells you the nutrition for every recipe. There aren't very many recipes though; I counted a total of 12.

Change name to Vegetarian

Has 12 recipes. One of them uses eggs. Eggs aren't vegan. Most vegans would grimace just at the thought of eating eggs.

Not vegan and continuously wants you to upgrade

This has vegetarian recipes, confusing for a newbie vegan. It has 10 recipes, a few vegan. It would be an average app if they properly named it.

Although I am not a Vegan, I wanted to cut back on meat and dairy for health reasons. I have eliminated all meat (not fish), and Dairy. I feel better. Plenty of easy, nutritious choices for plant based diets. Even my 85 year old Mom can't believe the meatloaf was meatless! Trying to use tofu as much as I can in place of eggs. I recommended to a true Vegan friend and she loves it. One of the best recipe apps I have seen and use. Thank you.
