Description

This easy-to-use AAC and choice board app was suggested and edited by special needs teachers and therapists to help nonverbal kids participate in class. Users tap a button and the iPad or iPhone speaks the button text aloud in either a boy's or girl's voice. Page choices include yes/no, alphabet, numbers, interactive speaking clock, skip counting, opposites, colours, world map, US coins, bullying, getting dressed, using the bathroom, seasons, emotions, BINGO, body parts, life cycle of a butterfly, custom pages with editable text and pictures.
Educators and parents can switch pages by sliding one finger from the upper right to the lower left of the iPad screen. Alternatively, turn on the settings and arrow buttons to let kids switch pages. Choose from over 100 prebuilt pages with colorful buttons and create up to 100 additional pages with custom buttons you can edit. A Spanish-language version is also available.
SWITCH USERS: Students with dexterity challenges can use a Bluetooth switch with Verbal Me. First, open your iPad or iPhone Settings app. In the Bluetooth section, turn on Bluetooth and connect to the switch device. Then within the Verbal Me app, button 1 could be assigned to advance to next button and button 2 to press the button. Or on 1-button switches, turn on auto scanning in the Verbal Me settings (gear icon), and press your switch button when the desired button is selected.

As an SLP, I can tell you that this app is very flawed in both its design and functionality. I am getting tired of apps like these that are not created by actual professionals in the field of special education.

Ios8 made trouble, I think

Great, simple app for communication needs. We had just begun using it with a student via single switch (screen touch) and auto scan through iOS built-in "switch access". After ios8 upgrade, auto scan abruptly switches after a choice has been selected. We are seeing this in the Yes/No page when No is chosen. The focus jumps almost simultaneously back to Yes. Hope this can be fixed so we can continue using this fantastic app!

Awesomeness

I love this app. I use it everyday with a special needs student who is non-verbal. I have given the developers many requests on how the app could be extended and they have exceeded my expectations every time and added just what I was looking for. Well worth the money.

Awesome!

I am a teacher of student with Autism and I use this app in my classroom every day for several different activities. The buttons are simple but engaging for students and they love to make choices on this app. If you are considering buying this app, I would HIGHLY recommend it. I have downloaded tons of apps for communication and this is by far my favorite and the most user friendly. It's awesome!!!

Best app for limited verbal ability

Temptabo on

We love this app. Our daughter needs a lot of help with making herself understood. This app is easy to use, bright and colorful and is geared towards the younger child. This is absolutely the best app we have tried for this purpose and I encourage others to give it a try. It is affordable as well which is nice since a lot of autism apps are prohibitively expensive. I am very pleased with this product.

This is app is great. Works well with my non-verbal students The only thing I wish it has taking out the swipe to get back to the mail screen and making it a button so my students can use the app easier and add in pictures or the ability to add pictures in with words
