Vidami Mobile for Safari Reviews

Very helpful for my guitar practice

Before this there were times where I wished guitar instructors would slow down on some of the chord transitions. The ability to slow videos down and loop them is fantastic. This is the modern, fun version of “learning by listening to the record. Customer service is excellent.

No Functionality

Unfortunately, I could not get the Vidami to work, at all. It appeared in my bluetooth devices list which I connected to but, it had no functionality. None of the buttons did anything. No start/stop, nothing. I informed customer support and returned the unit which they said was working fine so they sent it back but I returned it for refund. I suspect there was a conflict with my bluetooth speaker connection. Turning that off was not an option since I use that to hear what I’m playing along to. I tried using another bluetooth receiver but had the same result. My other bluetooth connected devices continued functioning as per normal. I was using an iPad 5th generation 16.4.1.

My guitar coach recommended the vidami. It is extremely helpful for me while learning to play on U tube.

You Wanted a Review…

I just got an email from the company asking for a review of the Blue version of the pedal. (I’ve had the original version for years, and dearly love it.) Anyway, it’s just as good as the corded version most of the time, but I specifically bought the Bluetooth version to use with my iPad. Long story short… it simply doesn’t work when YouTube is set for full screen. The pedal is completely unresponsive when YouTube is full screen. This is a problem because I often have to make the video full screen to actually see the chords the guitarist is trying to show in the video. Anyway, I am disappointed to see on other reviews that this has been a problem for at over a year! Weird, because it works fine on a desktop or laptop. Just iOS has the problem. Developers… is there a technical reason that full-screen YouTube videos won’t work with Blue Vidami? Otherwise, this pedal is a real game changer. Even with this flaw, I still recommend it.

Got me interested in guitar again

Nice product, good people and I can finally slow down and loop the hard parts to learn. It’s nice not to have to leave your guitar to control the learning video.

Works perfectly if you……

Use the YouTube.com website, NOT the YouTube App. Once I figured this out, it worked like a charm. I suggest the makers of Vidami share this valuable piece of information to prevent a lot of frustration from the users. Thanks. Good product.

Learning and recording without touching the mouse or keyboard

Works great for Safari on iPad. This app is just an extension to be able to use on iOS. The Vidami is amazing, I have the original wired and the new Blue version, on desktop I use both at the same time which is great, I use the original for the control of videos, then I set up the Vidami Blue to the mode I need either to be a page turner, or to control pro tools for recoding. So nice to be able to continue to hold your guitar an use your foot to turn pages or scroll on web pages, and even control Pro Tools. It took a little reading about all of the modes and how to change them, but once this was figured out, it has made recording and learning much easier.

Good Device but Needs Improvement

While I’ve only begun using Vidami Blue, my initial action is it’s disappointing. I’ve read all the manuals and watched countless review videos and how to’s. It doesn’t work in full screen at all with most videos. The only way to increase size is a two finger swipe. If you try to mirror it to a tv, the latency is so terrible it makes it a no viable option. On the positive side, when it does work correctly, it makes learning a new song so much easier. The looping feature is absolutely the best. The ability to slowdown the video is also very helpful. I would still buy this product and I’m confident that the software extensions will improve. New products take time to develop.

Works perfect

Once I figured out to use “YouTube.com” and not the YouTube app, it works perfectly. Anyone leaving bad review has not figured out how to use it yet. It is a process and the instructions could be better.

Doesn’t work as advertised.

This comment was originally written for the Bluetooth version of this pedal. But everything I discuss is the same for the wired version as well. I posted this a several channels but Vidami is deleting them so I figured I would try to get the facts out on channels they don’t control. What the advertising doesn’t tell you is this device does not control YouTube, it controls an add-on extension you have to download and go through a bunch of steps to install. But even if that was the only issues it would still be worth it, but this in fact creates a lot of other problems. Firstly, you can’t use it on a device just because that device has Bluetooth, so forget watching and controlling videos on any smart TV or using Apple TV. And forget controlling a device it does work on (like an iPhone) and mirroring that controlled device because the latency is so bad it’s worthless. But on the devices is does work with there’s problems. You have to turn on the device, connect it. Find the video you want to watch and control. Disconnect the device (because for some unknown reason that they only disclose AFTER you buy their product) your keyboard will not work while the device is connected. So then you have to open Safari (and yes, ONLY Safari because despite their claim you can use Goggle, they do not have the downloadable software extension required to connect the device using Google, again, they only have Safari - which I hate and don’t use). And you have to type into Safari the video you want to play, then, after all that, you reconnect the device and then finally you can use it. But when not in use you have to go deep into your phone or iPad settings and actually redo menu items because when you don’t use the device your browser won’t look or work right. And one last thing, when you watch YouTube video through a browser you can’t get full screen or hi quality/definition video. It looks bad. I was really excited about this product. And it does work, if you don’t mind spending a lot of time and steps to make it work and then undo those steps just to use your device normally when not using the controller. I was pretty upset how they advertised this product as “a Bluetooth YouTube controller”. That’s like calling the Titanic “an iceberg detection system”. It’s technically true, but not really how you want to do things. Buy a page turner for 15 bucks…at least that’s a plug and play device.
