Description

Instantly find the best times to go outside and witness natural wonders.
This beautifully crafted app and widget bundle shows forecasted clouds, rain, snow, wind, auroras, rainbows, and other weather phenomena in a comprehensive timeline that's easy to understand at a glance.
Innovative features include:
• Extreme weather warnings are shown directly on the timeline, so you can see exactly when the danger is expected — including thunderstorms, fires, hurricanes, flooding, and landslides.
• Inline minute-by-minute precipitation forecasts show the next-hour conditions derived from radar stations.
• Air quality forecasts combine local sensor readings to provide health guidance.
• Our proprietary algorithm even predicts the chance of rainbows!
Use the interactive map to request forecasts for any location in the world — including mountains, trails, lakes, and literally anywhere you place a marker.
We take privacy seriously with NO ads, NO tracking, and NO third-party analytics. Weather Strip only stores location data on your local device, and it always uses approximate locations when requesting weather forecasts.
Weather Strip also respects your data plan, with optional background app refresh that automatically learns your habits, and the ability to view your recent forecasts even when your connection drops.
Weather Strip is completely free to try for two weeks. After that, a minimal subscription price helps us keep the service running. (Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time by going to your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase.)
Not all features are available in all locations. Forecasts are issued by Foreca and Apple Weather globally and by the U.S. National Weather Service (NOAA NWS) in the United States.
Designed by data visualization researcher Robin Stewart to help everyone enjoy the outdoors.

Vinous Reviews

Bad app, bad content...

Kiki9975 on

France

It’s a very disappointing experience to use this application and their website as well, the information is badly organized, it’s really difficult to find what you are looking for. I’ve never seen that bad quality for money in the world of wine critics....

Badly integrated with basic Subscription

iTunes Jé on

France

The basic subscription ($96/y) is one of the most expensive wine review offer. Yet it is also one of the poorer. But it could come with a nice mobile app at least. Alas, at that price you cannot consult online - mobile only. And many in-app links will redirect you to Safari and then being unreadable. Expensive. Empty. And poor user experience.

Great Content, Meh App

Joe's Blow on

Great content but the app is very meh. The search is very substandard. Should be able to have many many choices. Such as show me the best 2011 Volnays, restaurant articles only (whoops! they aren’t included in the app), only review articles, only the latest ratings, etc. Navigation could be so much better, landscape mode, etc etc etc It’s very 2007

Most interesting coverage

I loved the video interviews during the pandemic and the broad range of coverage without deference to the price of a wine. Having visited I deeply appreciated your selection of La Ca Nova. The wine truly speaks for itself.

Respect Vinous reviews but its database search is well in need of help.

Great content but needs technical improvement

I’m an user of Vinous, Wine Advocate, Jancis Robinson and Cellar Tracker and here is how they compare. Jancis Robinson (JR) has the best search function, best focus on quality value and most poignant reviews. Their articles are also a treat to read. In the better known regions they have a consistent history of scores by JR herself and by Julia Harding. In the satellite regions, there is not much consistency between vintages due to changing critics and their chose winemakers. Everyone scores a little different - JR is predictably strict and Walter Speller gives 17.5 to pretty much every decent wine, while some other authors like my beloved Tamlyn Curryn may get infatuated. That is all correct and truthful, because it shows the fallibility of numerical scores and exposes the wine to the critic’s tastes, as it should be. For that reason, JR is the most honest. The scoring seems to express the potential of the earliest recommended drinking age but definitely not the full potential of the wine. What JR definitely lacks is the side note or addendum to wine notes, that would further reveal the wines character. Wine Advocate has the most prosaic and journalistic style of notes. It also has a lot of consistent history, even in satellite regions. It has a great reach among prestigious wineries and is stylistically quite descriptive in wine notes. With closed wines like young Barolos, the notes are long but say little about the taste and more about production, but that is all understandable. I suppose the scoring tends toward the wine’s full potential, often being 1-2 points higher than JR or Vinous. Vinous, conversely, I find strict and dry. Especially Neal Martin. He uses the low end of the score scale as freely as the high end, offering greater resolution than critics who squeeze most scores into a narrower score band. And yet, he is not that useful for my purposes. His notes are too factual, authoritative and judgemental to reveal the emotional energy of wine that I need to understand before buying. Antonio Galloni is a much more complete critic in this sense, with just as wide a range of scores even if a little more benevolent at times. I wish he scored even truer to his personal bias than by seemingly objective metrics of quality. My favourite Vinous author is Stephen Tanzer. His writing is like a woman’s: insightful in every important way. Vinous, just like Wine Advocate, are extremely useful for their wine note addendums, where the character of the vintag

Make over

This app really meads to be updated. One can not look at it in horizontal view. A log of the searches lead to no results, because the search function is just plain bad. This app could be so much more! It has the best wine tasters in the world writing for it, but a terribly bad app. Please fix it.
