Description

The next step in navigation is here! No more flat (digital) maps; navigation on your phone using augmented reality!
Walking to your destination via the fastest route has never been easier. Tired of looking at maps, trying to get your bearings straight while figuring out if the next turn should be that first street or the second one?
Using this app, you can have a look at the next step in navigation methodology, via augmented reality! This app will project your actual walking route onto the real world. Just by simply looking around, you’ll see your route in full 3D as a part of the actual world, making it easy to get your bearings, without staring at a map!
If you compare car navigation to pedestrian navigation, you'll find there are huge differences. When walking, naturally it's far easier to correct the direction you're moving in, while the number of instructions you'll need per minute is far lower. Therefore, you won't always need to have your navigational assistant within your field of vision; only when you require an instruction! This is totally different from car navigation, in which you'll need instructions at a much higher pace.
Considering this difference, we looked at popular navigational systems currently being used in for instance modern gaming, as well as Heads Up Display principles. In doing so, we created a new way of navigating using your mobile phone. Rather than using a map to model the real world, you’ll model the route itself into the real world!
In addition, it is no longer necessary to keep you mobile phone constantly in your line of sight. You can put it away and when you'll need instructions, just quickly glance at it to see which way to go! Also, when you're not checking your walking instructions and you stray from your route, the app will notify you through a subtle noise or vibration!
This app is powered by Google Maps, which will assure you of high quality and up to date maps. In order to fully benefit from the features of this app, an active internet connection is required. Features maps both domestic and abroad.
