The Watch AFL app is, quite frankly, a massive letdown. For an app that demands a premium price, you’d expect something polished, functional, and worth the money. Instead, it looks like it was slapped together by a 7-year-old with zero design or usability expertise. The interface is clunky, outdated, and riddled with bugs. Navigating through the app feels like a chore, and basic features you’d expect—like a seamless streaming experience or intuitive controls—are either absent or poorly executed. For international fans who just want to stay connected to their favorite sport, this app feels more like a punishment than a privilege. To make matters worse, you’re paying a hefty subscription fee on top of what you’re likely already shelling out for AFL coverage back home. It’s baffling that in 2024, the AFL couldn’t deliver an app that does justice to its global fan base. Save your money and look for alternatives—if you can find any. At its current price point, Watch AFL feels more like a cash grab than a genuine effort to connect fans to the game.

I’ve been a paid customer on this site for two seasons. Sometimes it works, and other times it frustratingly doesn’t. Even when it works, you cannot watch the game from the ‘start’ if accessing once the game has begun; audio however is given in such instances. You are invariably relegated to watching a game ‘live’ when the site chooses to work. Today the site has once again chosen to not work. So with little else to do I offer my review of this ‘near useless’ site. Only pay for access if absolutely desperate, but be prepared for only getting part of what you pay for.

I’m on holidays overseas every time I change countries it comes up access denied . Then I have to send emails and about 2 hours later it gets fixed. I missed the first half of the Power v Melbourne game yet they take your money every month . I can’t believe it , this app is a joke don’t subscribe its theft. Once I get back to Australia I will referring it to the ombudsman in SA You cant charge for a service if you cant deliver.

You took my $40.00 ok I got four weeks ok but then you helped your self to another $40.00 but I have not been able to watch a game since talk about being screwed

Initially put off by prior negative reviews, I cannot fault this app. It has everything I need when it comes to catching up on fox footy news, shows and matches. I love the ability to watch matches from start, or from live, and it even remembers your place when watching a replay if you have to pause and return to the app at a later time. Also love the fact that I can hide match scores when looking at the fixtures so there are no spoilers ever. Yes it is pricey compared to AU but at least there is an option to catch up on all fox footy content so as to not miss out while overseas.

I am a fully paid up subscriber, but no service. I have tried several times to contact their “Help” line. but no reply. The service and backup support is pathetic. This service is supposed to be a collaboration between Fox Sport & AFL. I would have thought that together they could produce a reliable service. But not so!

I joined and paid $44 for 4 weeks. Now there’s no offer to continue. Nothing! Why?

Originally I wrote a scathing 1-star review but after using it for six months it’s not as terrible as I first thought. 3 stars is fair, as you can watch the footy in “sort of” reasonable quality while outside Aus, but there’s heaps of room for improvement, especially in UX. It seems like they’re not investing a lot of time in this product

I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews so thought I would satire my positive experience. Went to Bali for a week and wanted to watch afl. I was here last year and was unable to watch so was happy to find this app. I had no issues whatsoever with this app. I was mindful not to pause it for too long because of some of the reviews I had read about it losing its spot. I was able to stream all of the games live in high def. I actually found the interface really easy to use and maybe that’s because of all the frustrations I have with the normal Kayo interface. Be mindful to cancel your subscription as soon as you are done as it will continue to charge you week to week.

If this was a high school computing assignment, it would get an F Clunky, crashes and missing basic functionality like ability to go back to main menu when watching a stream without restarting the app. This is probably the worst app I have ever used.
